Yeah I am really excited for the sequel as well! Don't get the hate for it as it delivered exactly what I expected, a fun slasher with awesome gorey kills. The makers of the Friday the 13th remake should have watched this film for inspiration for their kills.

Any one know if this will be playing any where in the Toronto area? I normally just wait for movies that don't get a wide release to hit DVD, but I really want to see this!

I wasn't so hot on the original, but I'll give the sequel a look. Personally, I just think it's cool that Danielle Harris seems to be happily fitting into and embracing the role of "21st Century Scream Queen"

I haven't heard anything about a Canadian release but, as has already been mentioned in this thread, the film is going unrated in the States. How does the Canadian ratings board work? Is it like the UK where every movie must have a rating? And, if so, will this film pass uncut under one of those ratings? As far as I know, Adam Green and Dark Sky Films gave up on cutting an R-rated version as the film kept coming back NC-17. I don't know what they would do for the Canadian release if it doesn't pass uncut. On top of that, I don't know if Dark Sky does Canadian theatrical exhibition.

I'm very excited about that the fact that a horror film is being released unrated theatrically. The only problem is that it's a sequel to a movie I didn't like.

I'm going to hopefully check this out at the Oct. 24th showing in To. Sounds like it will be just as gore filled as the first film, and hopefully just as fun!

Just camed back from this--there is no realt tension or fear but the kills are off the hook--total slasher retro silliness--but I was grinning ear to ear the whole time---Go see it to support unrated horror and see the insane kills on the big screen...

Sounds good! The first one was the same and that's all I'm expecting from the sequel. Planning on seeing this at the end of the month here in To. Hopefully it all pans out.

This really pisses me off. I was on my honeymoon for two weeks and I just got back on Thursday. Friday was pretty much a day off from everything before I had to go back to work. I had to work Saturday, Sunday and today but I'd been planning tomorrow around seeing Hatchet II. This news just ruined my night. I guess I'll just watch Blu-rays tomorrow instead.

Fuck. Sometimes I think this country is just going backwards. I'm never giving a dime to a movie theater again. I'm done. This shit is ridiculous.

Sounds like another publicity stunt to me. I really like Adam Green, and I especially love his enthusiasm for the genre. But remember the Hatchet army? What about all those people passing out in the aisles during Frozen and Grace (which Green was a producer on)? The whole marketing campaign for Hatchet II was riding on the fact that it is Unrated.

My theory: They knew all of the fans would be there opening weekend, then the box office would die down. Having the film "pulled" is only going to stir up more controversy, which is exactly what they want.

I guess we will find out the full story tomorrow.

Precisely what I think too; it didn't make very much money (in fact, it made less than the original), so it's easier to say it got "pulled" because it was just too graphic instead of the poor box office performance. No theater is gonna want to keep a movie that's only making 900 bucks a screen around long.
