Me and my buddy used to rent these from a place called Easy Video in NJ all the time around the time we graduated from HS. Then we moved on to Traces but didn't really get into that one. Suprising too since it's got a death metal soundtrack provided by Nuclear Blast. I also watched Faces of Death when I was a kid in the 80's too thanks to my sister trying to horrify me by playing it for me. The monkey brains scene still sticks with me to this day thanks to my sister. Then again, she also rented Slaughter High back then, so I thank her for that.

I've had the dvd box set for years...an in the end a lot of the scenes are hit or miss. Most of the stuff looks fake, but every once in awhile they through something crazy in. The one that gets to me the most is the tv crew at the sight of where a plane crashed in a neighborhood, thats some sick shit.

I saw all of them back in the day I'm pretty sure. It was morbid curiosity that made me seek them out and watch them. They were almost like a myth or folklore tale in junior high. The "cool" kids would always be talking about them and making those who hadn't seen them feel inferior. Even though I found them kinda boring, I kept on renting them up to IV. I have no real need to revisit these, I saw them when I had too. Do they really look any better in Blu-Ray? Would you want them to look better? Doesn't the fakness just stand out in HD?

I saw most of one of the Traces of Death as well. That is some other shit, although some of it was kinda funny to me (the one I saw had the race car crash into the crowd on a twisty road, I just thought those people standing right next to the road, on a sharp-ass curve, as cars speed by around 100mph were just begging for death. Natural selection at it's finest!)

Of the original series I've seen all but the second one, and that was only because they never had it at my video store.

I used to like all the atrocity/Mondo type films--DEATH SCENES was another one that was pretty good, also THE KILLING OF AMERICA.

These days I've gotten soft in my old age and don't really care to see them, especially anything involving animals, faked or not.

I saw the first one over a decade ago. I thought it was real until I found out otherwise.

I saw Faces of Death Part 2 as a teenager. A friend of mine rented it and we watched it as a group with our girlfriends. Hated it at the time and I'm sure I would hate it even more today. I'll never give it a second viewing nor do I care to check out even a minute of footage from any of the other volumes.

Faces of Death, Traces of Death, and the whole cannibal subgenre are most definitely not for me!

Sadly I did see it when I was young, as I posted in the review page, anybody who makes money off the entertainment value of the killing of animals (whether they did the deed or not) is an asshole. They should burn the negative, then feed the ashes to the filmmakers.

I've seen clips from Faces of Death videos, but never popped-in a VHS/DVD with that title to watch at home. I probably never will.

I thought part 4 was funny in that it seemed less serious...especially that goofy song at the end. But all of the ones I saw always had moments that were somewhat funny, even if it was only in a sick way.

It was hard to take Dr. Francis B. Gross seriously, and his successor was even worse.

Yeah, I saw that on the DVD release - Fact or Fiction. I thought that was weird that he was going through a bunch if clips telling us what's fake and what's not.

I don't think I've ever seen a Faces Of Death film. I saw part of a Traces of Death film once and never felt the need to check out anything else from this "genre".

I will be the first to admit that I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I love Cannibal Holocaust, but I can honestly say whenever animal deaths and the such come up in my cannibal flicks, I close my eyes. It's not hard to see them coming.

But, Faces of Death, if death in the film is real, that's all I need to not want to see it. One thing to glorify death, another to glorify a real one. In the documentary American Nightmare, they show JFK dying and it sickened me, but at the very least you felt what America must have felt back then and how it translated into early horror films. It wasn't gratuitous, but I still wish I hadn't seen it.

I've seen the first one - on TV, years ago, would you believe that?

Never had an interest in this because I always felt I'd end up regretting the viewing.

That type of footage has never been outside of my reach, so I've never sought out these releases. I've already seen worse stuff, why take a step back? Just so I can say I did? I've got better things to do with my time. (Not much better mind you, but better all the same.)

That'd be the San Diego PSA crash from 1978 - damn I remember the day it happened and it was all over the news. I was just a kid, but I remember watching the morning news before going to school (of course, I was late). Amazing how this footage ended up in 'Faces'...or maybe not so surprising...
That's the only real sequence I'd not want to see. Weird how I still remember so much of the news that day....and I lived in Nevada!
