So is this advertised somewhere or is this just a computer glitch they have you somehow found out about?

^ It's not advertised, and in fact most employees don't even know about it. You'll only see it when it's scanned up at the register. One person reportedly had to insist it was true even after it didn't scan at half price and a manager had to search the computer but eventually did find it. One store has reportedly refused to do it at all. So it's a bit of a gamble and may very well be a glitch that could be fixed at any time.

I can confirm these are in-store as well...I picked up The Terminator and Layer Cake earlier tonight, and saw most of the above. I'm sure the sale is through Saturday. I might go back and pick up a couple more before it's over.

Frys.com has many Blu-ray discs for $9.99, I believe it's only select Sony and Disney titles.

Circuit City is selling the Toshiba HD-A2 Player instore and online for $198 shipped. This includes the 5 Free HD-DVD mail-in offer.

    To sweeten the deal there's a $40 Off $199 coupon (instore-only) here:

    http://www.divshare.com/download/2192159-6c9

Or, you can buy a 10% Off $199 coupon on eBay for around $2. Just do a search for "circuit city coupon".

I'll probably wait until the A3 is available at a little cheaper price to jump onto HD-DVD, since the A2 doesn't do 1080p. Plus, right now I'm pretty content with just having Blu-Ray.

when is HD DVD gonna have some of these sales- They had the chance to blow blu ray away last week with Transformers but instead it seems blu-ray overall sales still eeked out ahead last week due to all their buy one get one free sales that week- smart move on their part to steal some of HD DVD's thunder (darn you blu ray!)

I love this format war. Competition leads to higher quality and lower prices.

I think there's gonna be some insane sales this holiday season.

There's a rumor going around that Sears will have the Toshiba HD-A3 for $169.99 on Black Friday (5am - Noon). I'm pretty sure that model includes 2 HD-DVDs in the box (300 and Bourne Identity) and will also have the 5 Free HD-DVD mail-in offer.

Amazon has the Toshiba HD-A2 Player for $197.99 shipped. Plus you get the 5 Free HD-DVD mail-in offer.

That makes 3 stores with Wal-Mart and Circuit City both offering the same player for under $200.

Check out Monoprice.com for cheap HDMI cables and switchers. You can get HDMI cables for around $5 and an HDMI switch for under $20.

If you're buying a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player, you'll probably need some new cables. I don't think any players come with an HDMI cable. The cables at Monoprice are just as good as the expensive ones.
