I just watched this for the 1st time tonight, fucking brilliant, had me on pins and needles. Great, great film, great suspense, action and creepiness. Hoghly recommended!!! Why is this not considered one of the best??? Is it the lack of sequels?

It's definitely one of the best. I still remember the first time I saw this at the theater - I was a wee 6th grader in a theater full of college students and high school students (it was the start of September). Besides HALLOWEEN 2, this had the most screaming and audience participation than any other film I can remember!
I dug that final chase sequence. Everyone applauded that final scene. What dug most, however was the film was shot in such a way that it resembled all those cool Hammer and Amicus films I watched every weekend throughout childhood - yet it was part of the "new wave" of horror pictures by being as good (to me!) as Friday the 13th.

I must confess that I've never seen Hell Night. Will do so very soon. All the words of praise have me intrigued. It's not that I required all this convincing. I simply have a backlog of moves to watch that continues to grow daily.

One of my favorites too. Had a huge effect on me as a child. Garth Manor was creepy as Hell and Linda Blair is awesome.

Yeah, I bought the double feature with Fade To Black last week but haven't sat down with it. Both films I know from experience are great though. Will be a fun double feature when I break down with it.

Check out the Linda Blair commentary on the DVD. It's pretty tight, but the stodgy old producers who are also on the commentary track hardly let her talk and spend a lot of time patting themselves on the back. I just wanted them to shut up!

Lots of nifty making of trivia though.

That's one of those rare films that actually lived up to the internet hype. It got off to a bit of a slow start but once the suspense really began, wow! It knocked it right outta the park!

Aw, but you gotta admit, the story of Garth Manor is pretty riveting. That's what sucked me in the first time. It does kinda slow down for the next half hour after that though...
