Especially Creepshow and The Howling. (Also, arguably, Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.) (And the bar scene in Psycho III. Very SIMONesque.)
Here is an updated photo of Tilda Swinton's make-up in the new Suspiria. http://people.com/movies/tilda-swinton-unrecognizable-movie-role-suspiria/
Here's an interesting bit of news: Thom Yorke of Radiohead will be scoring the film. That's certainly intriguing. I'm very much a fan of the band and have mostly enjoyed his side projects. And Johnny Greenwood's scores have been amazing. So, hopefully, that will all carry over. Especially considering how important that Goblin score was to the original. http://pitchfork.com/news/72587-thom-yorke-scoring-suspiria-remake/
Some fresh hype for the Suspiria remake: http://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/...-says-intensity-suspiria-remake-sent-therapy/
Kinda looking forward to this just out of curiosity... let's just be greatful that Argento himself isn't remaking it as "Suspiria 3D" as a follow up to the utterly atrocious Dracula 3D.
Just hearing about Ash vs evil dead being cancelled and then reading this gets me annoyed who really fucking cares about a suspiria remake. Something good has gone and we've got this shit to look forward to!!! At least the article didn't go as I was expecting, cause if she was gonna say the film is so intense that it caused her trauma, I'd call Bullshit on that promotion hungry bit of bollocks.
I'm still curious about this one. I find Suspiria's status over exaggerated. The film is stunning to look at and the music is amazing but I find that the story itself is pretty lacking. I still love it but I think at the very least a remake could give us something more to chew on in that regard. I feel like this has been in the works for a while now though. Surely a trailer is close.
My guess is this will likely hit theatres around Halloween or even into the winter holiday season, and with trailers they never drop earlier than 6 months before opening dates so there's potential we'll see a trailer or teaser by end of May/early June.
Is it going theatrical I assumed with Amazon behind it would be on Prime. Are they doing Theatrical too?
So this is the dreadful teaser poster that doesn't even remotely look like anything to do with Suspiria.
I'm actually kind of excited for this. Even though I didn't like his two previous films, I loved Call Me By Your Name (and it's even better the second time). He's an art-house director, and I'm expecting an art-house horror homage. I'm sure he'll make it his own and it won't even feel like a remake. At the very least, it should be interesting.
Yeah I’m actually really excited to see how this turns out. I too loved Call Me By Your Name, and also really liked I Am Love. Guadagnino is a fantastic filmmaker and I’m really looking forward to how this turns out. My expectations are high. I’d hate a straight Hollywood remake of this movie so his arthouse background is a nice touch. I feel like the movie won’t be totally soulless. And if it sucks I always have the original to wash the bad taste out of my mouth lol. ~Matt
The original is an insane masterpiece, but I can understand why remaking it has appeal. I like Chloe Grace Moretz--she possessed great timing in her recurring role for 30 Rock--so will certainly give this a chance.
I consider Suspiria an absolute horror classic, a masterpiece like Halloween and Dawn of the Dead. So I'm naturally skeptical of any remake. I found Call Me By Your Name to overall be an abominable piece of shit. But it was a beautiful-looking piece of shit, so the director may be able to replicate some of the visual splendor of the original.
