Cool, have a cookie.
Maybe the thread is too big?
You know you can delete posts, right?
Well, I just deleted them all. Sorry about that. I kept trying to post the pic and it wouldn't let me!
I´m making a t-shirt out of mine cover art. Do you guys make t-shirts? Man, I have ICHI THE KILLER, TCM, 2x EVIL DEAD, ERASERHEAD, THE EXORCIST, and a LOST HIGHWAY t-shirt:glasses: :fire:
Here's one I threw together last week. If only it would happen...
If only this were true.
criterion is so over-rated, new line's platinum series is better
Cool cover art... it could happen as Godzilla IS a classic...
Criterion over-rated? I don't think so. For a long time they set the standard. Sure, others do a great job now too (the Millenium series for one) but there is only one Criterion. Plus, they do movies from all over (no-one else has ever done Fiend Without a Face, for instance). And who else would do a three disc Brazil? or a two disc Carnival of Souls? And their Straw Dogs knocks everyone elses into a cocked hat. And on, and on.....
I wasn't too happy with their version of Sisters... the transfer is good but basically all the extras were text articles... not even a theatrical trailer!
could? i HIGHLY doubt it. TOHO seems to have an odd policy regarding non R2 dvd rights.
Crieterion have discs with different price lines (Sisters being one of their cheaper discs) and it's ALL about 1) The transfer (and more often than not they are definitive) and 2) The choice of films (sometimes they have things others simply do not.)
Well, I got SISTERS for $35 on Amazon, so if it is one of their cheaper discs, I'd hate to know the price of their most expensive!! :nervous:
Right - you overpaid:
Retail on that one ought to $30, you can get it off DDD for $23.90.
Again, you DO pay more for Criterion (for the reasons given earlier). I do not own a lot of their discs due to cost (perhaps ten out of more than 500), but I've never been disapointed.
Criterion discs are rightly so overpriced. They released THE definite edition of The Passion Of Jean D'Arc and NO company would do the things they did. They love cinema - period! From me, they can charge as high as they want, I will always support them. Now I'm off to see KWAIDAN.
The Passion Of Jean D'Arc is an amazing film, Criterion did such a great job on the disc, with the exception that it will not play on my player with the subs on. There are alot of intertitles, but I don't know a lick of French (and unlike Dreyer's other efforts, this has a high dialogue level). Amazing soundtrack effort, Anonymous 4.
Criterion is fine by me. They're worth that extra mile.
Hmm, about those home made covers: I don't really like them, but it sure sounds like fun! I'll make one myself this week!
Criterion is the shit, their 3-disc Brazil set is simply amazing, that thing was worth the price, shit I would've paid $60 if I had to.
