Here are a couple of werewolf films that came out the same year. Horror fans have been comparing these two for years, again arguably they are the best examples of the werewolf sub genre although recently films like Ginger snaps and Dog soldiers have really given them a run for their money.

Joe Dante's The Howling VS John Landis's An American Werewolf in London

    Which is best?

A hard one. Both are classics. But I like an American Werewolf in London more.

Although I like the transformation in American Werewolf more, I have to go with The Howling. It just works better for me, but I've never been a big fan of comedies either, especially ones that aren't really funny such as American Werewolf. For me, the only thing that movie has going for it is the effects.

The Howling sequels are more entertaining than the American Werewolf sequel as well, but they all suck major ass.

An American Werewolf in London. Holds up more in repeat viewings to me. The Howling is a great film though.

Love both, but An American Werewolf in London takes the cake.

I voted for AAWIL. I like both, but I like it more.
I figured that the Howling would be ahead from all the posts I've seen.

Tough call. REALLY tough call. I believe I'll pass on voting. They're too close to being equal. Today I may lean towards AWIL, but tomorrow it may be The Howling.

    I love werewolves! :D

Both are just awesome and I can't even decide right now.
Gun to the head....I'd probably go London on the strength of the dead victims and comedy elements.
Howling is a masterpiece though and has werewolf sex!

I'll hold my vote until that gun is real.
Another great poll, this one is just too hard.

I really do love both movies but I had to pick AWIL because it ties closely to a weeeeeird, weird story between my dad, me and a "stranded person" when I first watched it.
