Nightmare is a better premise and a better movie, but Friday warpped me and opened my imagination more (like figuring out almost anything can be a weapon) so I went it.

This was an easy one for me, never was a big fan of NOES movies.

Its strange because I thought of adding this to the horror movie showdown but I thought they are two different movies in a way.

I adore both films, but I went with Friday the 13th (if only for the wonderful ending).

A Nightmare On Elm St. I love the original F13th, but NOES has so much going for it. Especially the fact that the trademark killer is in the first entry. It's so raw and fucked up and creepy that I love watching it over and over.

I've always liked NOES but I can't say I've ever felt any real attachment to it. Completely the opposite for me when it comes to F13. I love it. Maybe it's just sentimentality cause it's one of the first horror movies I saw as a kid, but I gotta vote for Friday. I can watch it over and over.

NOES for me, always thought it was above the average slasher film creatively and Freddy was originally one of the genre's most menacing killers. The sequels really destroyed his mystique though and everything after Dream Warriors for me is basically unwatchable.
Friday The 13th I first saw when I was about six years old and it scared the hell out of me back then, in hindsight the abundance of slasher film I have seen since then has diminished its impact. I really think films like Halloween, The Prowler and even Sleepaway Camp are far superior. I would say that The Final Chapter is a great sequel despite Corey Feldman.

Oh, this hurts me so, so much. A Nightmare On Elm Street wins it by a hair. I dearly love Friday the 13th, and the franchise was one of my earliest horror loves, but ANOES just has a certain rewatchability for me. I swear I've seen it probably over fifty times now.

While I'm actually quite fond of the first FRIDAY,I wen't with NIGHTMARE,it was a clever spin on the genre.

Another easy one for me. Strangely, with more than 3000 DVD's now, I don't own a single film from the Elm Street franchise. Says it all really...

Like a lot of others here, I think Nightmare has a more original story and is probably even a better made film, but I chose Friday the 13th as it was one of the first to scare the hell out of me as a kid. I'll watch Friday the 13th every summer. Nightmare I don't even have on DVD.

As far as the coffee making scene, the very first time I saw Friday, that scene scared the shit out of me. I was SURE something was going to happen, yet quite brilliantly, it never did.

I tend to watch Friday a lot more than NOES so I'll vote for it. Both are pretty damn cool though.

When I was growing up it was Freddy that gave me nightmares not Jason. So my vote is for A Nightmare On Elm Street. Plus I think it is a "slightly" better movie.

Movie on movie, NOES wins easily. Series on series, F13 takes the cake.

Friday The 13th for me. Both great movies but F13th is (for me) much scarier, while I still think of NOES as a teeny-bopper flick.

Ohh this is tough. A Nightmare on Elm Street. There's definitely a little more going on than a crazy woman avenging the death of her son.
