Can't wait. I just hope Roth realized when the time was right to cut off the characterization and deliver the violence. I'm all for characterization, but when HALF your movie is characterization, you kind of drag the movie down.

The guy is smart. And I like him.

But.... "Eli Roth's HOSTEL 2"? Wayyyy early to pull that stunt.

This guy has yet to master horror but he has definitely mastered PR.

    You gotta give him that.

I enjoyed it. Eli Roth needs way more credit than he gets.

I copy this reply from another thread.

I like Roth but where do you see that?
Cabin Fever is The Crazies meets Evil Dead meets NOTLD and Hostel is TCM Inc. in Slovakia.
I like his sense of rythm, I like his use of the scope frame, I like his rudeness. I liked both his films, Hostel a lot more than CF even though it has parts that reeked of misogyny anf homophobia. He is a good director. But original? Who is original today in the US Horror scene? What REALLY new and original have you seen since the first films of Romero, Craven, Hooper, Carpener? I wish the horror directors of today stop copying those mentioned above and start copying Hitchcock instead. Their films will still be mediocre, just for a change of diet..

    --------------------------------------

I like him and I will see his film, but I still wait for the future in horror. I really hope we'll not live through another decade of clones copying clones etc...

Oh and another thing. It's perfectly alright if you think he's the future. But if HE thinks it too, oh boy... The are other fans of Roth as well in this forum who feel the same.

I've only seen cabin fever but tonight I bought and watched Hostel and god damn it was a good fucking movie!

I didn't know what to concluded after Cabin Fever but Hostel totally fucking rawked!

I have heard people complain about too much characterization (half the movie) or all gore and no substance but christ it was suspenseful and oh so nicely poetic.
From the thugs getting their heads smashed in by the kids, to the whore getting run over and that fuckface getting his throat sliced in the end
It was solid all the way through.

From all the negative reviews I was waiting to be let down and surprisingly it never happened. I loved the the tits and the characters. If you walked away from this film unimpressed and desiring something more then I would really like to know what you consider a "good" horror movie.

I don't give a fuck what any of the naysayers bray. Hostel is one of the best horror movies in a long time and you can definitely count me as an Eli Roth supporter from here on out.
