worst phrased poll ever.. i nthe topic you ask specifically for horror films.. in your post you just ask for how many dvds someone owns.
I no longer have a clue. I stopped counting ages ago. 600 give or take a few? I just realized that you're counting movies, not DVD, in which case, I REALLY don't have a clue. I'm guessing 650 on DVD, 200 or so on VHS, and maybe 50 or so that I downloaded which aren't commercially available otherwise. So, rough guestimate.... 900 to 1000? I may be way off though.
I assumed that people would know it's horror based due to the three times it says How Many Horror Films Do You Own "i nthe" thread and on the actual poll.
I'd say about 225 on dvd and 25 on vhs. DVD aficianado catagorizes them a bit differently, but I'd say about that many could be considered horror or at least dark and somewhat twisted so I'll just say about 250 horror films. Would be many, many more if I wouldn't sell or give away so many, but I need room for the good ones, you know.
191 with a few sci-fi in the mix, still buying more and wanting more. Someday i am hoping to have a huge DVD collection like most of you here, i still have close to 700 on my wishlist and that just counting Horror. I still have a fare amount on VHS which i am now copying to DVD, hoping in another year or so i will be swimming in horror DVD's.
I'm not gonna count, but its somewhere in the neighborhood of 300+. I got rid of most of my VHS, so thats all DVD.
Sweet Jesus in heat! I wouldn't know where to start. Just click on my link below to see my entire collection (by year). I'm not sure what is exactly classified as "horror." Some might consider the ALIEN movies to be in that catagory, or FATAL ATTRACTION or JAWS might qualify...the line blurs for me in many instances. Plus, I don't feel like counting.
I have 550ish Horror DVDs, so I figured add 100 VHS/LD/Beta/8mm would round it out about right. I own some 1300 DVDs.
I have three units of cheap shelving from IKEA...but they're all full and I am in need of another unit, but I'll probbaly wait and get something bigger and nicer to replace them.
I'm at about 220, the biggest chunk by far for any category of my ~600 DVD collection. To be honest there aren't a whole hell of a lot more horror titles I'm aware of that I'd like to grab (probably due more to my years hardened picky standards than the movies being truly bad). I'd take the "90% garbage, 10% good" yardstick and go at least another 5% on the cynical side. And I'd probably toss at least 20% of what I've already got on the basis of "heard it was good, ended up being crap after I bought it." What is left I'd pretty much consider must have, anything else I've already seen lies somewhere between "don't ever see a need to watch it again" to "thats two hours of my life I'll never get back". Right now my horror DVD hit list (below) is pretty short, mostly stocked with "doesn't exist on DVD" OOP titles that I'm looking to replace a VHS with, remember fondly from my cheese tolerant youth, or may just be curious about. Nothing much else really strikes my interest, if these ever come out I figure my DVD purchases will taper off sharply (yeah, right). Necronomicon (OOP) Willard (1971, OOP) The Earth Dies Screaming (OOP) Warning Sign (OOP) Night of the Creeps (OOP) Tales From The Crypt (1972, OOP) From Beyond The Grave (OOP) Trilogy of Terror (1975, OOP) Contagion (1987, OOP) Sole Survivor (OOP) Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (OOP) Night Warning (OOP) Demonwarp (OOP) The Innocents (OOP) From Beyond (OOP, to be released ?) The Haunting (1963, OOP) Blood Beach (OOP) Red Eye (Korean import, not Wes Cravens latest stab - after this and "Cursed" I'm starting to think he's picked up a habit of naming his films after unrelated Asian flicks) The Resurrected (To be released 9/20) Aftermath/Genesis (To be released 8/23) Kolobos (OOP) The Boneyard (OOP) Lovecraft Collection: Cool Air, Rough Magik, Out of Mind Unnamable I, II (UK import) Cast a Deadly Spell, Witch Hunt (HBO, never released on DVD) Awakening of the Beast
