I'm gearing up for my first dvd/blu order this year and want to know what I've missed. Any cool Euro Horror boxsets I may have missed out on from the last couple years? Franco/Naschy...or something along those lines. I read about the Werewolf in the Amazon boxset, but quality looks quite variable.

The new HG Lewis box is insane.

The Scarlett (Hellraiser) box is awesome.

Love my Blind Dead Box BUT... I'd be worried that Blu's might be on the way...

*edit: Just saw you said Euro Horror.

Um - the Killer Dames box? The Black Cats Box?

Does the coffin set have any additional features or items? I bought the dvds separately. I looked at the box, then found all of the new separately, and by adding the price, I was still paying about 20 less for the individual copies together instead of the box price. I just wondered if I missed anything by doing that. The specs for each film looked to the exact same as what was on the box.

There's a 5th disc exclusive to the set with "The Last Templar" documentary on writer/director Amando de Ossorio, as well as an interview with him, and some DVD-ROM content. Also, there's a 40 page booklet with writings/essays on the films and history.

By the way, this box set is over 11 years old, so how it qualified as a recommendation to the original posters "last couple of years" comment is pretty funny.

Yeah, that's what I didn't know at the time. I do have them though, just not the box set. I remember always loving them growing up and watching them on cable.

I really regret selling mine, a couple of years ago, when I was in desperate need of money :(
    Is it still in print?

I'm hoping that Blue-Underground will make a Blu-Ray version in the future.
If they still have the rights for them, and they can find proper materials.

What Eurohorror do you have in your collection already?

    Nothing/none?

Plenty of giallos, Argento, Fulci, Naschy, Franco. I've been disconnected from the horror scene for quite a few years now, so I was wondering what I missed. Back in the day it seemed like neat boxsets were always released. I'm thinking like that Naschy boxset from VCI (now defunct, I think).

There were 2 Mario Bava box sets put out by Anchor Bay years back but most of the movies are probably on BD by now and the boxes aren't $15 each like when I bought them a few years back ($60 each or so... :/). Probably not the Euro Horror that you're looking for but Optimum put out an awesome 21 DVD Hammer box set in the UK years ago as well; same comment about some titles probably being on BD by now for this one, but the price on this hasn't really gone up. BD upgrades out for some titles or not though, this is a really great box + The Devil Rides Out doesn't have any of that new digital enhancement bullshit in it.
There really isn't much as far as box sets that I'm aware of from more recent years though. There are the Black Cats and Killer Dames double features from Arrow that were mentioned but they're pretty weak as far as "box sets" go with only 2 titles each. The Netherlands got a Nazi Cult Collection DVD box set a couple of years ago but I think quality varies on the 6 titles included (mix of 4:3 and 16:9 stuff...), all the discs are in one case (no actual box), and it's probably out of print now anyway.
Not so much horror and it is so expensive now that it will cost you a lot less to get all of the discs separately (difference between the box and the individual releases is just the box itself, a cardboard band that goes around it, and a book) but Arrow released the amazing Camera Obscura: The Walerian Borowczyk Collection a couple of years ago too. Also loosely related, Raro put out 2 Fernando Di Leo boxes but these are crime movies and I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of the titles looked as poor as some of Raro's other BDs...

Thanks all for the suggestions! I guess there hasn't really been anything new in the last few years. Most suggestions I have already (all the Killer Dames stuff was originally on No Shame, if I remember correctly).
