On the 2nd of August 2010, Arrow will release the 30th Anniversary Edition of the movie "Inferno", the 2nd part of the three mothers trilogy.

The movie will be released on both DVD and Blu-Ray.
As for now, the only thing that?s unknown it?s is cut/uncut status regarding a scene with animal violence. Arrow in a UK movie company and as such they had to re-submit the movie to the BBFC to see if it will pass uncut and they are waiting for the final word.

Regarding the extras, it?s been official anounced...

THIS AMAZING 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION CONTAINS:

    - Reversible sleeve with original and newly commissioned art work

    - Double-sided fold out Poster

    - Collector?s Booklet featuring brand new writing on Inferno by Alan Jones, author of Profondo Argento

    - High Definition Presentation of the film (1080p) (Blu-Ray)

    - Optional 7.1 DTS-HD/2.0 Stereo Audio (Blu-Ray)

    SPECIAL FEATURES:

    - Introduction to Inferno by star Daria Nicolodi

    - Dario's Inferno (16 mins interview with Dario Argento)

    - Acting in Hot Water: An Interview with Daria Nicolodi (18 mins interview)

    - The Other Mother: Making the Black Cat (16 mins) In 1989 director Luigi Cozzi (a long time friend and collaborator of Dario Argento) decided to make the unofficial follow-up to Inferno and 'complete' the Three Mothers legacy. This feature looks at the torrid history of The Black Cat, with plenty of clips too!

    - Dario Argento: An Eye for Horror (57 mins) Mark Kermode narrates this documentary on Argento?s career including interviews with George A. Romero and John Carpenter

    - The Complete Dario Argento Trailer Gallery [18 films]

    - Easter Egg (5 mins of Dario Argento in English, with random memories of Inferno)

The BBFC have reach their veredict today... 5 seconds of cuts regarding animal violence (cat eating a mouse)

Cool. I'd get this. But seriously, we get Plumage, Inferno, Stendhal Syndrome on blu-ray...but where is Suspiria?? (And I mean in a decent Special Edition).

Ask the Weinsteins. They're the douchebags that now hold the rights to this thing. Considering their financial troubles of late, I don't know if we'll be seeing a release (or at least a GOOD release) any time soon.

Wow really? How the hell did the Weinsteins get the rights to fuckin' SUSPIRIA of all films?

*Just noticed: The 2-disc DVD from Blue Underground is OOP. I was wondering why they hadn't made this one of their first blu-ray titles.

Who owns Fulci's The Beyond? I thought for a second that Blue Underground owned it (and again was wondering why New York Ripper and City of the Living Dead had been released before that film) but apparently they don't own it. Not a huge Fulci fan (quite notoriously around here) but I'd still grab his films on blu-ray just for their over the top gore. Zombi would be nice too.

Maybe I'm overanalyzing here, but I love the almost apologetic way you say that you'd buy Fulci on blu: "I mean... they're not great movies. But they are culturally significant, and I AM a film student!" Face it, Matt, you're a closet Fulci devotee! :p

I'm grabbing City of the Living Dead on blu-ray, simply because I don't own it and haven't seen it since my teens, and the blu-ray is as good a reason as any to get it. I'd get Zombie as well, because it is a pretty decent little horror movie. The Beyond? Not so much... It's extremely uneven, and for every thing that works in it, there is something so clumsy that it makes me want to yell at the screen.

Well, I think I will just keep my one disc Anchor Bay DVD of Inferno. Don't really see any extras that I am interested in, but UNCUT, then I will probably buy it. I thought that the Anchor Bay DVD was Uncut.

Just a important notice for some user who seem to be confusing this edition of Inferno...

    Arrow is a UK company.

Hopefully this'll be region free. City of the Living Dead was, and all the special features were 480 NTSC, so hopefully we can expect the same thing with Inferno.

Looks nice, but I will wait for the Camera Obscura DVD (no date). And then see which one is the best. Till then, the AB release is sufficient.
