Yeah, I thought Brahms was just average as well. My wife however jumps and or screams during "scare" scenes which honestly makes the experience more entertaining for me.

Caught this yesterday and was quite surprised like everyone else. I was a bit skeptical because of the Blumhouse connection, but considering this was originally taped to be some sort of action/adventure film starring Johnny Depp we really lucked out here.

Leigh Whannell really shows off how good of a screenwriter he is with some really great "Got'cha!" moments peppered through out that keeps you on your toes, and his direction is way more atmospheric and effective than anyone else associated with Blumhouse currently. I would also like to shout Elizabeth Moss, who really carried this film with a fantastic performance. You really get a sense of her character's sense of pain and paranoia trying to over come an abusive relationship. If she is not in contention for best actress at next year's Oscars than there really is no justice in this world.

Overall, I'd say this is without a doubt one of the best mainstream horror films I've seen in quite some time. And with Whannell signing a multiyear deal with Blumhouse, I hope he continues being involved with the Universal Monsters' reboots.

Blumhouse is smart with their budgets. Like Fantasy Island, The Invisible Man only cost around 7 million dollars. Even if they don't do "well" they generally make a lot of profit. I wouldn't be surprised if they spend more on advertising than the actual cost of filming. Compare this to something like Underwater which cost around 80 million and you have to wonder why. Their next film The Hunt opens next week and I'll be seeing that as well. That one is double the budget at 14 million which is still pretty low by hollywood standards. Even Bloodshot which is opening alongside The Hunt cost 42 million.

Caught a matinee of this and enjoyed it as well. Elizabeth Moss was outstanding. I loved the opening sequence especially. Highly recommend checking out in theaters.

Anyone else dig that trailer for Antlers?

I would much rather pay the $20 to watch it in my living room than go to a theater. I also have a 12' screen in my living room via 1080p projector. I typically bring my two older kids so even with a matinee price, it is often over $20.

The blu-ray is currently $14.99 at Best Buy, with Amazon having price matched.

The disc hasn't even been out a month yet, so the price is not too shabby.
