Is there an uncut version of Dagon on home video?

    I'm working on a review for the German bluray. Many claim it is cut but so far I'm not seeing anything that is cut. It seems identical to the R rated DVD first released in the United States. I suppose the R rated DVD may in fact me cut, but to me that would indicate there is unrated cut in existence somewhere. Yes? No? Anyone have a clue about this?

    I've read the German blu is cut by 18 seconds and it's the skinning scene that's affected, so if you have both compare that scene, could not find anything concrete.

    I have checked that scene already. I believe it is identical but I will do a side by side on my computer to confirm.

    According to DVD compare the German DVD is cut by 18 seconds although it doesn't specify where. There are quite a few uncut DVD versions available. The German blu-ray is supposedly the same print as the DVD so is also missing the 18 seconds.

    Might be a dumb suggestion, but could it be the company logos at the beginning of the film? Foreign films usually have a ton of logos before them that might not be necessary in other counties.

    Regardless, thanks for bringing up this film. Have the LionsGate DVD but haven't watched it since it came out, now I really want to check it out again.

    The Region 1 DVD from Lionsgate is uncut as far as I know. dvdcompare lists it as uncut, along with most of the import DVD's. It seems to only be the German edit of the film that is cut.

    After comparing several key gore scenes, Im fairly certain there are no cuts on the German blu, at least when compared to the US R rated DVD.

    Just because someone says it is cut doesnt make it so. Id like to know where the cuts are. I cant find them.

    Are the running times different?

    A user review over at Blu-ray.com mentions "Supposedly there are a few seconds of Rabal's character getting his face peeled off that was excised from this release" – but they didn't actually confirm it. I'd start in that scene to see if anything is cut.

    I can confirm that the German Blu-Ray is cut, the skinning scene is indeed chopped up and another scene as well that I can't remember right now.
    Also, the German Blu-Ray is an upscale, a good one at that but it is an upscale.

    @horrorscreamer what specifically is cut? I ran the same scene side by side with German blu and US DVD. Identical.
