PHANTOM is easily my least viewed,I think TRAUMA somtimes gets a bad rap.
I haven't seen Phantom of the Opera yet, but so far, out of the films of his that I've seen, my least viewed is The Card Player.
My least watched is Deep Red. It's not a quality decision, it's just the one I watch the least. I do find the longer cut drags a lot. I watch Trauma more often because - well I have a lot of issues with it, and I had to work through them.....
I finally watched Trauma for the first time last night. I bought the Anchor Bay Argento steelbook when it first came out but just never got around to it.
For what it's worth I really enjoyed it. I went in totally cold and had no idea about the murder method. That gave the opening kill a serious kick. Pretty damn cool. The other murder scenes are effective too. And although there are some slow stretches they never bored me to death like parts of the uncut version of Deep Red.
Pino Donaggio's score is awfully nondescript, which doesn't help matters at all. With a vintage Goblin score I have a feeling this film would be rated much higher here. I'm not saying it's BETTER than Deep Red overall. But if you reversed the scores I think it'd be a much tougher call.
I am surprised that this movie doesn't get a lot more love. I think this is up there with Argento's best, or at least his best film of his second tier of films.
I i've seen Trauma at least 3 times.
Like many my least watched Argento film is The Card Player (like Trauma, i first saw it when i've buy the Dario Argento Collection) and the Phantom of the Opera than i buy (a blind buy) last year.
I'm not gonna watch this one pretty soon.... awful.
Trauma is the "American" Argento film, right? I did see it once I think between now and the last time I posted in this thread back in '07. I can hardly remember a thing about it.
Trauma isn't bad. I enjoyed it. Far better than Do you Like Hitchcock, Mother of Tears and Giallo.
Definitely!!! I actually like Trauma.
You got it Maybrick. And you don't remember Frederic Forrest and Brad Dourif hamming it up? Good stuff.
Trauma is my least watched. It feels way too my like an "American" film of that time period. Phantom is a worse film but Asia makes it a little more enjoyable.
Generally speaking, the ones featuring Asia are my least watched..
