I kinda agree Hatchetwarrior legend. I thought the atmosphere was very unique and not what we get often from films released these days. A bit of 80s low budget feel, which is what we need and still works so well.

I can somewhat agree. I think what did me in was
the CGI body-tossing at the beach
    and
    the pool scene
. It just fell apart so fully for me that I couldn't get back into it. Maybe if it hadn't been so good at the beginning I would have been more forgiving.

    The "buzz" didn't help either.

my pre-order with Amazon dropped to 14.84 and that includes a digital copy - I am happy. In fact it is still that price right now.

This film's release on Blu-Ray is making me rethink my pledge to no longer buy dvds or blu-rays.

So excited to see this again in two weeks! Hope it holds up for home viewings. Seems like a lot of the people who are just recently seeing it via their computers aren't enjoying it as much.

    Tarantino on It Follows:

How could It Follows have been great? Would you have done something differently?

QT: He [writer-director David Robert Mitchell] could have kept his mythology straight. He broke his mythology left, right, and center. We see how the bad guys are: They're never casual. They're never just hanging around. They've always got that one look, and they always just progressively move toward you. Yet in the movie theater, the guy thinks he sees the woman in the yellow dress, and the girl goes, “What woman?” Then he realizes that it's the follower. So he doesn't realize it's the follower upon just looking at her? She’s just standing in the doorway of the theater, smiling at him, and he doesn’t immediately notice her? You would think that he, of anybody, would know how to spot those things as soon as possible. We spotted them among the extras.

The movie keeps on doing things like that, not holding on to the rules that it sets up. Like, okay, you can shoot the bad guys in the head, but that just works for ten seconds? Well, that doesn't make any fucking sense. What's up with that? And then, all of a sudden, the things are aggressive and they're picking up appliances and throwing them at people? Now they're strategizing? That's never been part of it before. I don't buy that the thing is getting clever when they lower him into the pool. They're not clever.

Also, there’s the gorgeously handsome geeky boy — and everyone's supposed to be ignoring that he's gorgeous, because that’s what you do in movies — that kid obviously has no problem having sex with her and putting the thing on his trail. He's completely down with that idea. So wouldn't it have been a good idea for her to fuck that guy before she went into the pool, so then at least two people could see the thing? It’s not like she'd have been tricking him into it. It’s what I would've done.

Gotta love Tarantino - he makes some good points. I'm glad he still liked it though <:

I hate that Tarantino tends to act like he's god's gift to the world. He seems overly cocky in himself and how great he is that makes him come across as a dick in interviews I've seen.
He does make some good point about the film though as they were some of the issues I had with it. Now that I have it on blu I'll have to give it another spin.

I just watched this on Showtime. It had a serious Ring vibe that I'm surprised no one mentioned in regards to having to save yourself by "passing it on" so to speak. The acting, music, effects, lack of clichés (i.e. jump scares) and premise were all extremely well done. I enjoyed the story until the end where it just didn't measure up to the rest of the film. The antagonist's origin is never explained which is fine, but the ending is left a little too open imo. I don't even know why two of the female characters are even in the film (the sister and the girl with the Kindle compact). And did every adult leave Detroit? It was like watching Night of the Comet.

I would give the film 3 out of 5 stars, but I'd hesitate to recommend it and I won't be adding it to my blu-ray collection. That said, I feel this film is a step in the right direction towards getting horror back on track. We need a reprieve from zombie and ghost/spirit films for a good decade or so. I don't know what the hold up is for Zombie Angry Birds, but I'm sure there's a script floating around the studios waiting to get greenlit.

I actually really liked that aspect. The whole movie comes off as a hazy dream/nightmare and I loved it.

The film has its faults but I really enjoyed the vibe of it. It was an easy buy for me as it felt very old school and had a JC Halloween vibe to it.

I picked it up for under $10, knowing that I will give it another try (probably in October). Overall, it was very enjoyable but a victim of its own Hype.
