I can't recall. I binge watched them all recently. They tend to blend together when watched that way.
I'm pretty sure both the car crash and the "Jigsaw has cancer" plot points were introduced in "Saw 2"...not entirely sure...I'm at work right now (slow part of the night) and will have to check when I get home...I say this also because the original "Saw" was the only one in the series that I DIDN'T see on the big screen, and I'm pretty sure I DID see those plot points in the theatre...
Well, if I'm wrong- then I'm wrong. But I can certainly criticize the film for the little girl who woke in the night to complain about a noise in her room. She was extremely robotic. One of the worst acting performances in recent memory.
I owe you a bit of an apology DVD-fanatic!...after re-watching "Saw" and "Saw II" (both that I re-watched were the unrated versions...I hope they don't deviate too much from the theatrical...I'm assuming just a few extra seconds of gore...)...Jigsaw DID have cancer in the original "Saw"...however, he didn't get all preachy about it until "Saw II," and the car-crash definitely happened in part II as well...I'm sorry!!!
Also...to all you gamers out there...did any of you think that the main douche bag from "Saw II" REALLY resembled Kratos from "God of War" from the PlayStation consoles?...if they ever make a live action "God of War," that dude should totally play him...provided that he's in the same shape...
I thought him pulling himself out of the crash was the first film. So, it appears I was technically more wrong. Still: all of his sermonizing during the victims watching / listening to their tapes is absurd and stupid. Hence why this parody of Adele's "Send My Love to Your New Lover" is actually partially funny: "Did someone call a party clown?" must be a reference to how "John" - again - is a psycho who wants to kill people and just uses the cancer as an excuse.
This kind of stuff is slightly annoying - mostly because I bought this: ... which will now no longer be the complete collection.
“We’ve got some pretty wild traps in the film — we don’t shy away from the gore,” says Michael Spierig. “It’s such a perfect Halloween scarefest. It’s perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun, which is something we tried to inject into it. But it’s still full of good fun gore, that’s for sure. And, on top of that, it’s got a really great mystery, and there’s very interesting twists. It’s Saw for 2017.”
I stopped going to see the Saw movies theatrically after IV, even though I eventually caught up with them all on home video. Fun series, but at the time these movies were a dime a dozen and the franchise didn't seem to be going away any time soon. But now, after the lengthy break and being bombarded with dull and dreary ghost movies in the interim, I couldn't be more excited for the return of Jigsaw. The trailer looks great and I can't wait to see it opening night. With this, Leatherface, Chucky, Happy Death Day, etc, not only am I excited for the return of the slasher genre, but it's shaping up to be a damn fun year for horror.
I love all of the Saw films and will definitely see this in the theater. My concern with the trailer was that the iconic music was absent. I checked and was happy to see that Charlie Clouser did the score, so I expect it to be in the film. This is it for those who don't know or have forgotten:
From the trailer, Jigsaw actually looks like a fun return to form for the series. I saw all the others theatrically on opening, so will be there for this as well.
Looked a hell of a lot of fun, enjoyed the series a lot, very happy with its return, some of those traps looked great!
I'm with it. I also have not seen a Saw feature theatrically since 4. I despised 3 and I honestly can't remember anything from 4. But this new one looks half way decent. Absolutely worth a theater visit this Halloween season.
This Jigsaw movie happens after 10 years... Supposedly, the foot of Dr. Gordon is still in that horrid bathroom? During many of the movies we keep seeing it there... I wonder if we'll get to see it on this new sequel.
I'm not going to be able to check this out until Monday at the earliest, so unless the reviews are piss poor I will check it out then.
