With how huge the promotion campaign for the new King Kong is, I'm quite certain you'll find this at just about every retail outlet that sells DVDs.

Get the 3 pack at Amazon. They had it for about 21 dollars or so.

I'm totally conflicted on this. I want the Tin but I also want the box set. Yet I don't want to buy the film twice. DAM YOU KONG!!!!!

I'm considering buying the tin, and then the other 2 films seperately. Does the box set contain extras that the tin doesn't?

I'm very probably going to order the tin. From what I've seen, it's a very good looking item and one you wouldn't mind leaving on display.

The film and extras on the DVD itself are the same in all versions, the normal 2-DVD, Box Set, and Tin.

The tin has cool goodies like:

    Collectible tin packaging
20-page reproduction of original 1933 souvenir program
    King Kong memorable scenes postcards
Vintage King Kong poster mail-in offer

I've got the tin on order as well. I'm super stoked.

I see myself flipping through the book in 5 minutes, glancing at the postcards for a few seconds and cursing how out of place the tin looks in my dvd rack. The poster would be very much appreciated though. It's still isn't worth the money in my book.

I'm getting the 3 film collection. I love these flicks and I think the packaging looks super great for it, too. The tin looks fine, but I think the collection is the way to go. Can't wait! Man, this has been an amazing year for DVD.

I agree. One of these days I'll just pick up the two-disc set, but it really isn't a huge priority right now because of other things I need to buy. ;)

That's what the Deep Discount DVD sale is for!

True, but it seems like whenever DDD has their sale, I never have the money to buy very much. I should start saving. :(

That 3 film set sounds amazing!! I grew up watching those films and haven't seen them in years, so it would definitely make a good addition to the library. I want to introduce my son to them as well. He is loving the trailer for the new Kong!!

The tin includes the regular 2-disc set so placing it into your collection won't be a problem. I'm getting the tin myself, since I love Kong and want all those collectibles, plus the poster reproduction looks awesome. Besides, why buy the box set when you can get SOK and MJY seperately and have a cool ass tin?

Give me a break. Tins are the dumbest gimmicks to ever hit DVD.

The recent release of Edward Scissorhands is an excellent example. 6 "collectible" photos! Gee whiz!

I could care less about the tin - but I do care about what's in it.

For fans of the original film, there is a great new book out:

It has a lot of background information on the making of all the films in the series, critical studies, and lots of cool pictures. Recommended.

Besides King Kong itself, Mighty Joe Young is really terrific, the SPX are even better than King Kong, the movie is less serious but just as good.

I can't decide what I want to get...I'll probably go with the tin because I don't really care about the other two films that much.
