In case you're interested and live in the general vicinity, there will be a screening of KING KONG VS GODZILLA at the Colonial Theater in Keene, NH on Friday, April 24th. What's pretty cool about this is that Universal has struck a brand new 35mm specifically for this showing (the old repertory print was lost in the fire last year)! There will also be roughly 20 minutes of vintage movie trailers shown beforehand and during an intermission break there will be plenty of DVD and T-Shirt giveaways. Also, legendary comic book artist Steve Bissette has kindly donated several signed copies of his critically acclaimed series "Tyrant" as well as an original sketch of King Kong Vs. Godzilla made just for the evening! If you can withstand the rather sketchy antics of a local horror host in a fright mask for a few minutes it may actually turn out to be a good time!

I might have to make a road trip from Boston for this.

Bissette won't be there. Well, not in an "official" capacity, at any rate. If he shows up he's going to probably just want to enjoy the show and not be disturbed.

Dammit -- why do these cool screenings never happen in the Dallas area? I would kill to see this on the big screen.

Any idea whether it's the Japanese or American version? I like the American for nostalgia sake, but the Japanese is far superior as a film.

Sounds like a great night is planned. Please report back if you attend. I'd love to know how the film looked.

It will be the American Version as that's the only one which I believe Universal has access to. I agree on a personal level that the Japanese version is preferable, but the American version would be the greater crowd pleaser, especially if there are youngsters in the audience who can't read all that well yet.
