Argento takes Giallo to another level IMO. I'll go with Deep Red.

I picked Deep Red as well. I never get tired of this film. The music, colors, dialogue, and violence all work perfectly. For anyone unfamiliar with giallos, It's also a great introduction to the genre. If you don't like Deep Red, you're probably not gonna like any of the others either.

Bava's Blood & Black Lace. Hand's down (hence my avatar). ;)

Blood and Black Lace. Bava was ahead of his time. This film opened up so many creative doors for other films to follow in both the Giallo and slasher sub-genres. From story to technique, Bava was a true master. Following that, Tenebrae has always been one of my alltime favorite Giallos.

I went with Tenebre (can't argue with Deep Red though) but Tenebre was the first Giallo that I ever saw, and to this day it's still one of my all time favorites.

I went with Deep Red as well. I love most of these movies but Deep Red is my favorite. It was the first Argento movie I ever saw and I think it's his most accomplished giallo (with Suspiria being his most accomplished movie, in my opinion).

I went with Don't Torture a Duckling. I could never get tired of that movie; it is Fulci's masterpiece, in my eyes.

I'm also quite fond of Argento's gialli (especially Deep Red), A Lizard in a Woman's Skin, What Have They Done to Solange?, Blood and Black Lace, The Bloodstained Shadow, and The Strange Case of Mrs. Wardh.

Of the ones on the list, I've only seen Deep Red and Opera. And of those two, Deep Red is the easy pick.

By far my favorite giallo. The Strange Case of Mrs. Wardh would be my second favorite.

  17. To me it's just a question of which Argento to pick. I went with Tenebre.

  18. Wow! Looks like you have a lot of great films to still watch. I wish I could go back and watch these for the first time again. Great times.

The House with Laughing Windows for me. It's a methodic masterpiece drenched in dread. Tenebre, Solange, and New York Ripper are the runners-up.

Based on the ones that I've seen I'm gonna say Tenebre, with Don't Torture a Duckling as a very close second.
