The Australasian release of F/X was 1080i so I never checked it out. I'm sure kino will do better. Really wish this was a two pack though, totally seems like it should be.

Very exciting news! I was surprised Shout chose to pursue The Dark Half (snore) instead of this film. Glad Kino is coming to the rescue!

I'm hoping for the extended version, like they used to air on TBS and TNT. At the very least, I hope those scenes are included in the extra features. Not getting my hopes up though.

I haven't seen that version, but would be very curious to. Although the commentary is enticing, I don't think I'll pick it up unless the extra footage is included in at least some fashion, whether it's incorporated or not...i was never a huge fan of the film.

Kino is aware that people are wanting the longer cut and this is what they have said on the matter...

and after a few other comments...

Let me guess, Umbrella released it? They used to be a great company in their dvd days, now they just seem to fuck up and not give a shit. They have a good handful of 1080i transfers released. I just don't understand it.
Man, I saw Gator for the first time not long ago and thought it stunk. I felt like most of the film consisted of people laughing and Burt Reynolds laugh drove me up the wall.
I only recently caught The Dark Half and thought it was quite good. I liked the mystery aspect of it. It kept me interested throughout.

Shout Factory wouldnt have been able to double bill either F/X films nor the Burt Reynolds films either, due to contractual restriction on these particular titles. There are reason why some MGM titles can be double billed, while some simply cannot be.

Is it just whatever MGM decides can or can't be doubled up or are there other factors?

Seriously, if Needful Things is NOT the extended version, than Kino Lorber should not even waste their time in putting it out.
