I just won a LOTD prize pack from the local paper, which includes double pass to see it and a t-shirt!

Unfortunately the shirt's one size too small, but still.....free tickets....Fuck Yeah!!!!

I won a Land of the Dead T-Shirt at a free screening a local radio station was running. It's a cool shirt. Now I have shirts for all Romero's Dead movies!

As of 8/8/05, overseas total: $4,255,472. Worldwide total: $24,750,532.

Of course, by "worldwide", they only mean 11 countries, not counting England, Japan, France, Spain, Germany, to name but a few. Still a ways to go before it's truly "worldwide".

Finally saw LOTD last night and enjoyed it a lot more than any of the other zombie films in the last several years. I'll definitely pick up the DVD and proudly display it with the first 3 films, but I think McChrist hit the nail on the head perfectly a few pages ago about it seeming more like a Carpenter film.

Carpenterness aside, I guess my main disappointments in the film were:

    1) The whole zombies getting smart angle just didn't work for me. It seemed like too big a leap from the previous movies.

    2) The score - completely unmemorable.

    3) Hopper's death scene was a complete non-event. I was hoping for an over-the-top gory showstopper like Rhodes in Day.
    4) "You can call me Motown" - Why the HELL must people have stupid nicknames in these movies? God!!! That line's going to make me cringe every time I hear it.

That's one flaw of the film I never thought of.

I'm with you, I was also hoping Hopper would get it like Rhodes, but alas... his death scene was rather lame. Talk about a disappointment and a waste... especially in such a good film.

So the unrated is 4 minutes longer. I was hoping for something more like 20min or even 30min longer.

FULL FRAME ONLY for the Theatrical cut? LAME.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the DTS track though!

That is silly that the original theatrical cut is full-frame only.

Meh. Only someone who is lame would want the theatrical cut anyways.

'tis a valid point - but releasing any film in something other than it's OAR is lame IMO.

one thing i really didnt like about this movie...

when the zombies finally break into the city (as happens in any zombie movie) every character we'd been introduced to with the exception of the bad guys were already outside the city.. so it was like "meh, who cares that the zombies have broken in? good for them.." or maybe that was the point... i'll have to watch it again soon.. what do you guys all think?

Hmm, I could've sworn that I read somewhere that Land would be Romero's first 2:35.1 film.
