What's interesting about this movie is how it gets a different reaction from everyone who sees it. I picked up the uncut German DVD and figured I'd see what everyone was talking about. The movie is beautiful, repulsive, pretentious, confusing, and horrific all at once. No wonder it gets the reactions it does. Personally, I loved it. There are a few images that i will never get out of my mind, and thats not necessarily a good thing, but the movie does have power to shock, and for that i applaud. I've always been a fan of Lars Von Trier, and with Antichrist he proves that he is still a filmmaker of relevance. After it finished my girlfriend asked me with disgust, "why would you want to have this in your DVD collection?"
I'm still trying to think of an answer.....

I DVRed this on IFC the other night, haven't had a chance to watch it yet though. Also DVRed Hush and Tormented on there, two other horror movies that haven't hit DVD in the US yet.

My understanding is that a few of the more extreme scenes were cut from the version IFC broadcast.

It's available on Netflix streaming, in HD even. Saw it on my Xbox.

Just got the Criterion dvd of this and thought it was great. I haven't seen any other of Von Trier's films, but I really want to see Dancer In The Dark 'cuz I love Bjork.

I also got Jigoku and didn't like that as much. I'll have to re-wath that on th hi-def though since I watched that on a little crap tv.
