I kinda like Jess Franco's Bloody Moon (which I've been told is not a typical Jess Franco movie) - it's bad, but unlike Satan's Blade, it is at least entertaining even when it fails to build narrative momentum.

As for Jean Rollin, he IS the guy who made Zombie Lake. :p

I'm a huge Franco fan personally, but he's not an easy filmmaker to get into at all. But as to the Zombie Lake comment, Jess Franco was actually set to direct Zombie Lake but dropped out last minute, so Rollin was begged by the producers to take the directing gig literally the week or two before they went to camera - so while it's bad, its not entirely on Rollin who was just trying to save a sinking ship. If Zombie Lake is your only impression of Jean Rollin's work, I highly recommend checking out his other films!

I know. The scene with the chick skinny dipping in the pool errr lake with Zombie's at her feet is a riot. There was some other fun scenes as well. I knida remember an effective barn scene. Unlike Franco's interminably boring OASIS OF THE ZOMBIES. There is no amount of Red Bull or cocaine that could get me through that snoozefest.

I have recently went on a Franco and Dietrich buying binge so I hope my opinion changes.

    Bava's Black Sabbath Blu-Ray.

Been wanting this one for years, well worth it.
Slowing down on purchases lately, collection has just got too large.
Still on the fence about buying the 'It Follows' Blu-Ray in July.

My first impression of Jean Rollin's work was screenshots from reviews of Zombie Lake and Living Dead Girl, and those were enough to convince me that he was a maker of terrible movies. I've skipped through Grapes of Death, and while it was obviously superior to the aforementioned two, I was unreceptive at the time. I will give it another go... Eventually.

My blu-ray imports of Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Blood Stained Shadow, and Rabid arrived today. They shipped from England on the 7th so that is pretty fast.

I had a UK order take less than 10 days recently as well, but during that same time an Amazon Germany order took 5 weeks. Yesterday, I got a package (Malena) from South Korea in less than a week.

Those two Tales from the crypts. What version are they? They look like digibooks.

Coincidence, it was just announced yesterday that Shout is releasing both of those two movies on 10/20/2015
