I've actually never seen the movie before. Gonna watch it tonight and I'll report back.

    Also, today I picked up:

    Interstellar (Steelbook)
    Gravity (2-Disc Diamond Luxe Edition)
    Tron: Legacy
    Sicario

The film is fun, but most of the fireworks are at the end. Very 80s/high school and higher on the spooky factor than anything else. The transfer has what I would call acceptable issues due to the materials but looks good overall. It was an easy purchase for me and I had seen it before. Will be one I revisit, as well.

I really wanted to see it because Tom McLoughlin made it, who, as you all know, directed one of the best Friday movies. :)

What you described kinda sounds similar to Return to Horror High. Any similarities?

Stopped by Best Buy and found these in their 5.99 bin. Not sure if there are any differences in the Shaun of the Dead blu ray than the dvd I've had for years, in regards to the special features......but even if they're identical I figured one of the best zombie movies ever deserved a 6 dollar upgrade to blu! And I dig steelbooks.

It's not comedic, and with the PG rating element it feels more like Tales From the Darkside episode-turned-feature than a R-Rated "movie". Almost a TV Movie vibe. Like Shockwaves, or Burnt Offerings but different.

The Killing Joke got so much flack for being a shitty adaptation of the graphic novel. Everyone hated the animation. I was okay with it though, didn't bother me at all. My avatar is from The Killing Joke film.

    What do you think?

I despised it. I love the DC universe and cherish the BTAS, but this was terrible imo. I was okay with the animation (Batgirl looked great for example), but it definitely could look better. If WB is up to spending the money, I'd love an animated film for Hush, and an updated retelling of Knightfall (the comic hadn't aged well).

Admittedly, I haven't actually read the Killing Joke (which you'd think I would have). So the cartoon wasn't ruined for me by mentally comparing it to the graphic novel. However, I did read somewhere that the cartoon took some liberties - including the ramped up romance angle between Batman/Batgirl.

That's explains it. Everything prior to Joker shooting Barbara was tacked on. The comic starts with Batman talking to "Joker" at Arkham. The story itself isn't long, hence the Batgirl story.

I must say, though, that speech Joker gives ("There's always...madness") was awesome.

Absolutely. Having Conroy and Hamill recite the comics dialogue was a thing of beauty. Everything proceeding it was terrible though imo.
