I was so stretched with finances I wasn't able to buy many movies this summer BUT I sold some things on Ebay and I found out a the 11th hour about the GAMERA Arrow Blu set being offered at Roninflix. I kept checking over and over (not realizing they clarified a specific time on their social medias page). It paid off because I ordered it...and it arrived within FOUR days to my apartment. I MEAN...HOW???????????????????? Well, I had sold some Gamera DVD's both domestic and imported during the virus lockdown for money and I've been regretting it ever since. THIS was just an amazing thing to happen. I've been watching them little by little for the past week - and having the best time while the world around me is rather sour. I noticed the GODZILLA Showa set from Criterion was $112.49 on Amazon last week and I maxed out my stupid $300.00 limit credit card to buy it. It took 3 days to arrive and that was choosing free shipping. I've been watching both sets for the past week - watching those films over and over with my reduced work hours and backed up house work, ect. A light in some dark times in this little studio apartment.
Glad to hear you were able to get a Gamera Box. It's nice that you're getting some happiness during these hard economic times. Best of luck to you.

Thanks, RW - also been enjoying the newspaper clippings from 1980. Happy 40th! Yeah, money is tight but I've slimmed down my diet and not bought things I used to before covid19. The blus and sets and sales from the various sites like V. Syndrome, Synapse, ect. keep me going as home viewing has been my only entertainment now since 2013. It's just so great to see these vintage films getting the deluxe treatment. I've not really bothered with the broadcasts on cable since they have this annoying habit of squishing the end titles (sometimes speeding them up) and showing previews for the next program. I also hate when the studio watermark appears. I love TCM, though (I mean, "FINAL EXAM"????? I love them for that!). I really liked MGM HD but now they are increasing their commercials which take you OUT of the vintage experience back into the current sh*tty era. Sony HD sometimes has a good flick. Comet TV was fun when they had Toho and peplum flicks. In regards to the Godzilla flicks on Criterion - I enjoy them very much. I do have a preferred ear for the English dubbing for the 60's and 70's films.
Yeah they are as noted I believe SD prints. But they look OK and they were cheap (about 5 quid each) and I didn't have them before. They are German releases and available on Amazon.de if anyone is interested.

The Evil Dead 1 & 2 "Double Feature" 4K SteelBook (Best Buy exclusive) Halloween (1978) 4K SteelBook (Best Buy exclusive) Good thing I did an in-store pick-up last night on their website. It showed my local store only got 2 copies in, and soon after I had placed my order it showed as "unavailable" at the store for the Evil Dead release. I'm glad I skipped the old 4K releases now, these look pretty nice... (and no, I only bought 1 copy each, these pics are from the Blu-ray.com forum)
