I've been patiently awaiting an upgrade for this movie ever since my DVD started freezing up a few years ago. It's the only one in my collection that does this, at least that I'm aware of.

It's a Warner disc. A lot of their dual-layered releases crap out over time.

I was hoping Scream Factory would get this and do it up right. At least it is getting released, I have been waiting for awhile on this one...

Hopefully they carry over the special features. Also knowing Warner, this will likely be the R-rated cut.

If it's actually true someone should change the title of the thread (coming from Warner Archive).

If it is I'll skip it. Many grew up and like the R rated cut. I watched it once before I brought the letterbox VHS and thought it was a big let down compared to the Unrated cut.

What I'd like is a disc with both cuts, and also an option to watch the movie with the original ending, the reshot ending is poor compared to it. I don't hold much hope though.

For many years, I used to watch the workprint (still got the VHS), even though the PQ was mediocre, and it was missing music/sound FX.
I remember how disappointed I was, when even the Uncut DVD, didn't have all the gore from the Workprint.

Yeah agreed, the first girl killed in the woods is narly on the workprint it is one continuous take where as on the release its intercut with leatherface which really mutes the impact.

Yeah, and another one is with the sledgehammer kill, when you actually see the brutal impact to the head. On the dvd, it cuts away, and left most of it off-screen.

This is obviously not the same as the VHS you own, but they even had an Uncut VHS before the DVD.

Yep. They did baggio! The sledgehammer kill was seen in full and uncut on the unrated VHS!.. and it's the same in the DVD, with the Little Girl pulling the string and offing Ryan.

There's some really nice transitions in the workprint, and the order of scenes is swapped around to it's merit. The only thing I remember about the first kill in the woods was that the body looked like a dummy with flailing arms and assumed that's why it was trimmed for the official cut.

They released the longer European Cut of Innocent Blood recently so i cant see why they would not release Leatherface uncut if they are the 35mm neg.

While I'm glad this film is finally getting a Blu-ray upgrade, I can't get excited about what will likely be another "throwaway" big studio disc. Not including the Unrated cut will be the nail in the coffin. May as well just stick to my DVD

Now people are going to be upset because it doesn't look like the 81 minute theatrical cut will be included. :p

In an ideal world, it would be included, but for me, it's strictly interesting for reference purposes, and to that end, I can just hang on to my DVD. In all honesty, I'd be more upset if they'd omitted the trailer, which is thankfully included - and in HD! All in all, I'm very happy with this announcement. :)
