I want to see machete. Hopefully it's better then The Expendables as I was very disappointed with it, especially considering the fun cast they had.

    Easy...
    Expendables sucked.
First purchase in a long time that I've considered trading in at Bookman's.

I had a big grin on my face after watching The Expendables. It gets my vote easily.

Machete was pretty good but wasn't nearly as fun as I thought it would be.

Agreed. Machete was tons of fun.

Just watched Machete and it was exactly what I wanted it to be, whereas Expendables fell very short of what I wanted it to be!

    Hmmm tough choice. Loved both.

On a coin toss I pick Machete.

Both were equally disappointing for me. But I picked Machete over The Expendables since Machete actually tried to tell a story, a mediocre one at best, but at least it tried. The Expendables didn't try much of anything, even with the orgy of bullets, blood, and explosions in it's final 20 minutes it all felt tired and half assed. By the time Machete ended I felt let down, but when I left The Expendables, I felt cheated.

I haven't seen The Expendables, but count me as one of those who was a bit disappointed with Machete. It was alright, but it's another one of the current glut of overlong films that could easily be improved with an additional 15-20 minutes removed. Really, I know that it'll never happen, but studios should start imposing a maximum 90 minute run time on films budgeted at less than $100 million or if the story REALLY warrants it to be longer. I'm serious. It seems to me that the only reason movies are so long nowadays is to justify the exorbitant ticket prices (and perhaps to stoke the director's bloated ego at the same time).

"Machete," like "Grindhouse" before it, hit the mark as a homage to the '70s exploitation and drive-in genre. It's also a stand alone, solid action film, with a remarkable cast (yes, even Steven Seagal, was a joy to watch).

"The Expendables," to me, failed to capture the essence of what it was trying to pay homage to, the '80s actioner. You had the cast (although, it was a monstrous disappointment to me that Arnold and Willis were reduced to actionless one scene cameos), but if it wasn't for the cast, the movie would have been useless. I liked "The Expendables"...but expected so much more.

    Machete.

Danny Trejo is a better badass than any of the guys in The Expendables (except maybe Bruce Willis).

oh come on, man. i get (and agree with) your stance on the "extreme" direction that mainstream horror has taken in the last 10 years, but you can't just automatically discount every single film that's released, just because it's modern (i use modern not in some esthetic way, but just to indicate that it's released "now").
