I'm in the mood for an 80's slasher. Dave's review and Gunner's past thread were helpful... But I need some more opinions! I've only seen it once and I can't remember jackshit. (A bad sign?) Thumbs up or thumbs down?
It a pretty good film, but not spectacular. It just drags too much in a few parts such as the hot tub scene to call it spectacular, but other than that, I love it. The scenes where Marz is up in the trees are creepy as hell, and the hood decapitation is an awesome kill! The DVD has a good transfer despite it not being anamorphic. Its a little hazy, but good overall. It also has a cool commentary. I say get it!
That one chick is godawfully annoying in this movie, the one that thought it was a great idea to hide in a Spoiler refridgerator, and yet throwing out all the food and shit is littering the floor . If rhett ever does a worst female tournament, she's the one I'm voting for.
THUMBS UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET THIS DVD has nice extras , and it represents what good early 80's slashers are all about. p.s. mcchrist , wasen't the girl who hides in the fridge Gaylen Ross from dawn of the dead ?
I thought this movie was a huge bore with some of the worst acting i`ve seen and what has to be the most unappropriate title music for a horror film i`ve ever heard in my life. Just my opinion though so don`t mind me.
I personally hated this movie, but judging from talkin to you Mark, i think you would probly enjoy it, so i say go ahead and check it out
Madman worked for me - not on par with FRIDAY THE 13TH - more on par with THE PREY or TO ALL A GOODNIGHT (Hey, there's a title that I'd like to see!). I love this flick.
Thumbs up from me! Madman has a nice creepy atmosphere, great flashbacks and a few awesome death scenes. The hottub scene was a bit on the cheezy side but the rest delivers. Git that disc Mark!
I got Defjeff's copy, and liked it enough to hold onto it. Not a bad little 80s flick. Still have to listen to the commentary, but that's low on my list of commentaries to listen to.
Madman is one of my favorites. In fact, when I first picked up the tape a few years ago I thought it was THE scariest movie I'd ever seen. The creepy synthesizer music and opening campfire scene STILL give me the chills. Great slasher, tons of atmosphere & one scary-as-hell killer. Not as good as The Burning but I liked it more than The Final Terror, or even, GASP! - Just Before Dawn.
I'm a big fan of Madman myself. I saw this in theaters when I was about 13 and it scared me then. Now I don't find it quite so scary, but I still find it to be an entertaining Friday the 13th knockoff.
I have this movie too. It is a great cheesy 80s slasher. If that is your thing, by all means get it. Besides, the dvd is pretty kick ass too.
MADMAN is cool. It isn't great like PROM NIGHT D) but it has its moments. Some creepy scenes, and more importantly some amazingly cheesy songs that could perhaps classify this as arguably the only slasher musical. Madman Marz is one scary murderer; so much more convincing than a buffed up guy behind a mask. I was kind of expecting a little more from this film, but it is definitely worth picking up Mark. Someone needs to rip the theme song onto MP3.
