From memory (it's been a long time since I've viewed the movie), this is mentioned in the commentary. It's down to original print damage.

Thank you so much guys! I was so happy to finally see the movie that the stutter almost took me out of the element.

Excellent movie and excellent documentary. I had no idea Joe Spinell played so many great characters (his role in Taxi Driver always makes me smile). Living in NYC all my life I just love seeing these time capsules of how the city used to look.

Got this during the AB sale at DDD. Love it and can't believe I let this one go so long before buying it!

I still haven't seen this yet, debating on whether it's worth the $12-$14 I would spend on it at work. Maybe one of these days, I'll grow some balls and go for it.

I remember seeing the tv spot which featured the nurse being chased to the subway all the time when I was a kid and it scared the hell outta me. The movie itself is really tense and unsettling and has actually held up pretty well over the years...in fact I think it actually has way more fans now than it did back when first released. I seem to remember alot of people hating back in the mid-80s.

Alright, you've convinced me. I'll have to wait until either pay day or Christmas time, where I'll be dropping every penny on DVDs most likely. I'm sick.

I'm still waiting for my LE Maniac. I ordered it from work and it's status is "Available", AKA "In Print." I have my fingers crossed.
