I see this movie and I enjoy. I think is a movie to make you think and is what you think about after you see this movie for many times after. I see this dvd now in many places is now cheap is about 10-11 dollars now new so is why I buy because I want to see before but not to pay 25 dollars. I give two thumb fingers up.

Really interested in this, but I'll wait for a blu-ray. Hopefully it pops on-demand sometime soon so I can check it out.

Can someone tell me the actual run time on the uncut US DVD (not the one printed on the box)? I ordered the Region B Blu Ray last night and I'll compare the run time on that to the one on the US disc. One other question, when I play this on my DVD player it's going to be converting the PAL signal to NTSC; I assume I can just look at the run time on the player and not have to convert it or anything? I'll have to remember to let it run all the way to the end credits as my player will only tell me how much I've watched...

This is right up there with Let The Right One In, as one of the best Horror films of the decade IMO.

Yup. That's why I was scratching my head on why it didn't make the finals in our poll.

Just finished watching this, and holy fuck is this a downright disturbing film. I'm still feeling overcome by it, and it's very effective. I need to let my thoughts settle as I'm still feeling the effects of the film. It's a rough experience, but extremely well thought out. Chalk up another fan of this film, just don't know how long it'll be until I can revisit it...

Treated myself to the blu-ray for Halloween. Jeepers, it's a powerful movie! Intense and thought-provoking stuff! :nervous:

The US unrated run time is 99 minutes (not the 96 listed on the case)

I just watched this again last night, for the second time. Holy shit! I knew what was going to happen and it was still damn disturbing! It didn't lose any of its impact. It's funny though - I remembered the torture in the second half going on much longer. I thought it would be about 45 minutes of screen time, but it was only about 20-25 minutes.

Still messed me up though. I think this one may outdo Cannibal Holocaust as a movie that makes me feel bad, but in a better shock-to-the-system kind of way, and with higher production values :)

I watched this for the second time a couple of weeks ago. I had to pause it about every 15 minutes and watch Saturday Night Live just to make it through. Not because I was bored but because I knew I just couldn't deal with such a consistent downer. I think it is great. It is definitely all over the place, but it seems to me more of an unfolding process than a jumble. It is really a ride.

I wasn't much of a fan of Inside, and expected this to be more of the same. In some ways it was. As others have said, the film starts with a real bang. But once the initial situation is set up, after about 20 minutes, it becomes a little dull. It started to feel a lot like Inside, trying to manufacture "intensity"(!!!) with no real emotional connection (something that's honestly never achieved in the film. I can't say that I ever really cared about the characters). Fortunately, I thought the film really introduced some great ideas in the last 10 minutes. Ultimately it had a great ending, and it made me reassess the opinions I'd developed over the course of watching it. So I'd recommend the film. It's certainly not perfect, and it lacks any real emotional connection with the characters, which makes all the violence feel kind of hollow. But once the concept is revealed, and the final twist happens, it really redeems itself.

I thought this was actually quite good. I watched it with a friend and he wanted to smash the DVD to pieces because he hated it so much.

I wasn't shocked, but the premise - in the end - was decent.
