Barrel's version is the definative version, and it is readily available at any online store. I know that it is annoying not being able to find everything at Best Buy, but it hurts smaller companies like Barrell that really go out of their way for the fans when you don't buy their discs just because they are not right there in front of you, and maybe something easier will come along.

Does anyone know if Shriek Show's release of Burial Ground is going to ship next week(28th)?

As far as having a copy of Burial Ground in my hand on Tuesday, lets just say I'm not holding my breath. I'm hoping that the never ending SS delays will end with the release of Two Orphan Vampires on 6-25. I'm also hoping they will start releasing two titles a month (as opposed to their current trend of one) from now on like they are doing in August with Fianc'ee of Dracula and House of Clocks.

I used to be an AB fanboy but it looks like Shriek Show could (if they play their cards right) kick some decent AB butt. :p Maybe then AB will wake the hell up and stop re-re-releasing the same movie every 2 years. :( I'd like to see Elite catch some momentum with there new line of Millennium Editions too.

AB is going to come in strong in August with a slew of great titles. At the end of July we have Demons of the Mind, Delirium (which I want to know if it's anygood by the way), Straight on 'til Morning, and Hitchhike.

Then in August we have Curse of the Devil, Shadow of the Werewolf, Umberto Lenzi's Nightmare City, and The Antichrist.

The Elite Millenium editions are neat, and I might pick up the Re-Animator one, and I'll probably get the Spit on Your Grave one, but overall I believe their dead in the water.

AHH!!!! This is what's kind of pissing me off. This isn't at all directed to you thrashard, you just brought it up :). Elite is doing EXACTLY what most of you people bash other companies for. Releasing a good (or not so good) version of a film and then beefing it up later. Why is it any different? Oh yeah, cuz they're an independent company ;). I forgot it's NOT okay for MGM to re-release ROTLD or possibly THE HOWLING, but ELITE can do it with RE-ANIMTOR, NOTLD, ISOYG, etc. Sheesh  .

  9. No, Andrew - it pisses me off just as much when Elite does it as anybody else.
I call no more re-releases until every cool film is available on DVD at least once!
    :D

While I agree that it is annoying when smaller companies double dip, I think the reason people get all up in arms over larger companies is because they are adding insult to injury by already having huge back catalougs they could be releasing but are not.

Now lets be honest, how many different titles do you really think Elite is sitting on, not many would be my guess. Now look at say MGM, Warner, Parmount, or hell, even Anchor Bay. Until MGM releases all of the old Hammer titles they have the rights to, not to mention God only knows what else, I don't want to see any double dipping out of them. But with Elite, its kind of like from them we are going to get either a cooler version of Re-Animator, or nothing at all.

    I hope that made sense.

With Elite, they kinda have to re-release past glories cuz they need to get back into high gear. They are suffering quite a bit I heard even bankruptcy. AB, they are still a great company and they have a great catalog but one reason that they are so big is cuz they keep re-releasing big name horror movies over and over again getting big $$$ to throw towards new adventures with other not so big movies. That and Thomas the Train is a big kids seller...hmm, maybe Elite should try selling something like Barney or Blue's Clues. ;)

crank - I see your point, but I still don't really see the logic behing many people's arguments. It just doesn't make sense to me. Is SYNAPSE re-releasing films? No, Don May Jr. gets off his ass and snaggs films for release. What's the last GOOD title ELITE released? Not a re-release mind you, but seriously. HOWLING 3?? Jeez, it's sad what they've sunk to. But honestly, it's partially they're own fault. I give them credit for what they've done in the past, but to me this is a perfect example of when people argue for the sake of arguing.

That wasn't directed at anyone in particular.

Synapse is grass rooting it. There's nothing wrong with that. Kudos to them. I'm actually looking forward to a couple of there upcoming releases. I still can't seem to find a copy of Evil Dead Trap though. Excorcism looks interesting too. ;)\nn/

What are some other decent titles from the Synapse roster? How is Grapes of Death, didn't that release have glitches?

I didn't really like EXORCISM. Soft-core porn with an ATTEMPT to make a story. I don't think I've even made it all the way through yet :(.

GRAPES OF DEATH, however, is fucking awesome! Get it, highly recommded for the cheap price. Plus it has a long ass interview with Rollin and Laihee (who is still fine). Great movie, his best that I've seen to date.

Didn't this release have production problems after Shriek Show released it? Did they do a recall or release newer versions later?
