Meatball Machine!!! Spread the Love!

Discussion in 'Asian Horror and Other Pleasures' started by Horror Junkie, Aug 9, 2009.

  1. Hey, I wanted to see if theirs any fans of this rather new film??? I'd never heard of it but being a fan of foreign cinema wanted to give it a try, plus the cover art and story synapse were pretty impressive for a low-budget splatter flick from Japan. So far next to no one has heard of or talked about it on this site, so thought I'd tell you guys about this amazing underrated horror/sci-fi experience.

Its about an alien race which functions very similarly to a parasite, it attaches itself to an unwilling host and begins to violently transform them. In a matter of minutes an ordinary human is morphed into a half cyborg/half human mechanical slaughtering machine, that a rather tiny alien being pilots like a mech. It uses these altered host's to protect it's existance against humans while they track down their own kind, once a Meatball Machine finds it's Kin a immediate and overly gruesome battle to the death begins. Winner eats his alien enemy and the loser dies, or the parasite flee's the host's body to find another.

This movie has everything a J-Horror/Gorehound/Kung-fu Fan/sci-fi geek could want! Theirs violent transformations inwhich eyes are drilled out, limbs changed into deadly weapons used for battle, kids getting 'Moked by cars at high speed, head's getting drilled/blown up/chopped in half, Biomechanical impalings, kung fu galor, and it even pushes the limits with Internal camera's showing the alien action going on inside the Meatball machine's!!! (Take a look at my avatar picture!)

Overall this is possibly one of my favourite asian horror's next to stuff like Ichi the Killer, Battle Royale, Audition, Evil Dead Trap.

BTW. Theirs even one of those scenes anime porn fans seem to love with tentacles having their way with a innocent girl.

it was ok. worth a watch if you're into this sort of movie, which i am. It got a bit tedious after a while, but I could say the same for Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police. Still, I had a laugh with a couple of beers in me.

I just put it on my Netflix list- looks interesting enough to check out.

  9. I think a few beers is the best way to enjoy this one!

This is a tough one to judge, its made on such a micro-budget but it is very fun and original for what they have to work with. Its not for people new to the Horror Genre thats for sure, stuff like seeing a girls eyes drilled out in super raunchy detail is only for experience horror fans.

It drags a bit in the mid-section but not enough to make it boring by any means, but I mean cmon.... everyone likes to know the storyline. The downright crazy battle at the ending is a crowd pleaser too, gonna show my gf this this weekend sometime.

Ne ways, I don't think Machine Girl is better but its a matter of opinion I didn't like the cheesey humor Machine Girl used, I much perfer the serious tone of Meatball Machine and the violence used to shock and gross-out the audience rather then make them laugh. But thats down to personal taste.

Hope you guys have fun with this one!
