I caught this at a local discount theater. (They were also playing The Strangers, so it made a cool double feature.) It was pretty good, atmospheric and brutal, but WTF is up with that ending? I never read the story, but I plan to soon, mostly to see if that out-of-left-field C.H.U.D. cameo is explained.
Yeah, that's what I got out of it. They're talking all lovey-dovey, and then he aggressively takes her from behind (sodomy?). It shows his descent and foreshadows him replacing Mahogany as the killer.
I checked this out last night. I really liked the first half. Some nice kill scenes. Then, when they try to move the story along, it got silly as described earlier. There was also a nice look to the train scenes.
The ending is pretty much the same as the book. It is a Clive Barker story after all!
Haven't seen it yet, but if they kept the original story ending I can't wait. Lion's Gate sucks ass for not giving this a proper distribution.
Living in the middle of nowhere, I'll have to wait for the DVD. In any case, it's not like it could match the awesome-ness of "Rawhead Rex" or anything
That is a movie that needs a definite redux. The story was great, the movie not so much. Don't get me wrong the movie was entertaining, the story just packs a much bigger wallop.
will pick up the dvd of midnight meat train for sure also rawhead rex could use a redux also i wish a new region 1 dvd would be released although it would probably be bare bones since lionsgate owns it
I just saw a very large poster for this a few days ago at a local theater. I went to see the Mummy movie along with Pineapple Express. I had no idea it ended up getting a shit release. I have never been impressed with lionsgate so I am not that surprised.
saw the trailer for it on the frontieres dvd and it looks awesome to me. I wish I would've at least had the option to see it on the big screen...!
Holy smokes! This is on HD on Comcast's FearNET this month!
Sometimes I hate Verizon Fios. And those times are when I wish they had a horror channel.
I saw this with some buddies at the local film fest last week. Fun flick. The last half goes off the rails, but that's how Barker is, love it or hate it. The director was in attendance, and mentions how Barker was always coming up with these crazy ideas that made no sense - but he used them anyway. He didn't have much nice to say about the producers, either, but didn't seem to be in poor spirits. How did he get the gig? He was in LA to attend a reunion concert for the band "Asia" and just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Not that seeing an Asia concert should ever be considered the "right place".
Two more posts rhett (currently as of this post you're at 6664) and you'll be Devil Times Ten!
Damn, I'm already at 6,668, I totally missed it. I think my review of PULSE qualifies as the unholy number. Fitting.
Heard a commercial while I was in another room about this being on FearNet a couple hours ago...I thought I had heard wrong, but damn was I surprised to see this OnDemand in HD when I went to look, for FREE no-less!! I thought it was cool getting Red in HD for $7 last month. This is even better. Going to try and check it out in the next couple of days, the short story is a personal favorite of mine. Probably the only story I've read in the last 7-8 years that actually created an actual feeling of tension in me.
Holy Crap! I need to look through the offerings! I know what I'm watching this weekend! I just got On Demand and there are a lot of great free shows on there!
I watched this last night and had a good time with it. As someone else said, the CGI early on almost had me reaching for the stop button, but once I got over that I enjoyed it.
Cool, can't wait to get home to see if I can get it for free on On Demand.
I didn't see it on my On Demand list!!
Is Fearnet an option on On Demand? Is it a category by itself or is it under a different header? I just got the service a couple of weeks ago and I'm still searching through stuff.
