After reading the thread, turns out that the person complaining about the DNR hasn't even watched the blu. They were literally going off the caps from the online review!
I wondered if our "eagle-eyed" poster even read the review, as they would have caught that particular passage(as I did). To me, they just come across as someone rushing to be the first to take a dump on a new release.
Isn't that the name of the game over at Blu Ray.com? Who can get there first to dump all over everything? Seems like most posters have no idea what they are talking about and have no technical expertise. I've sat in on all sorts of grading sessions, DIs, seen raw transfers and I don't feel like I am ANYWHERE near technically educated enough to comment on these things most of the time. I'll let my eyes be the judge.
Well Mondo Macabro isn't know for stellar transfers. For most releases I accept the fact that we're getting the best we can for an obscure film with sketchy materials and low expected financial return. It is more of a labor of love than technical achievement. With that said I've nary heard an unkind word towards their transfers. Even their cam tape transfers are far better pulls than anything else ever on the market. I also can't even think of any discs having any errors. When even Synapse has a couple of blots on their record. So MM does great work.
These are now LIVE! The Dorado Films releases were immediately available , but the MM titles were not. It took a couple of minutes but then Spider was available. But it was a taught seven minutes hitting refresh , then lo and behold, Fox was available. And I got my order in for all four. It's a good thing I got today off. It'll take the rest of the day to come down after that adrenaline rush.
Both Fox and Spider sold out in 20 mins. Ha! I thought I'd be safe finishing the game I was playing with my son but I guess not!
I'm able to add both right now (I've cleared the cart FYI). TRY AGAIN! I do think 500 is way too low for a giallo though. They should be able to clear that in no time.
Not sold yet out according to Mondo Macabro on Facebook: "NO, NOTHING IS SOLD OUT YET. PLEASE STOP ADDING EXTRA COPIES TO YOUR CART TO SEE HOW MANY ARE LEFT, FANS ARE TRYING TO CHECK OUT."
I ordered Fox earlier this morning when it first showed up. I've seen Spider before and it's honestly not very good, so I'll gladly pass on it.
I ordered Fox & Lorna the Exorcist. Doesn't seem like Lorna is getting a Blu-ray upgrade anytime soon.
I'm holding out for a Blu. Not the best film so I'll wait til it hits Blu rather than feeling the need to upgrade later.
Several months ago on Blu-ray.com, someone asked if Lorna the Exorcist would get a Blu-ray release. Jared answered. Can't remember his exact reply, but it was something to the effect of being personally satisfied with the quality of this film on their DVD & that nothing was imminent.
Yeah, we'll see. I feel like we hear things can't be done until they get done (The Mutilator, Nightbreed, so on).
