Makes sense. The Legacy Collections probably turned out to be more profitable for Universal than VAN HELSING did. I wouldn't doubt it.

I'll be getting these. Been wanting the Invisible Man sequels forever, and am extremely happy to see this news. I'll get the Creature one too, and I'll get the set if they make another one with busts, otherwise, I've got all the Mummies already.

    Moving thread to Classic forum.

I hope that Universal releases them together in one set like they did the last one. I picked up the collection a few weeks ago on Amazon for $55.99 and got free shipping. I really didn't want the 3 statues so I sold them on Ebay for $15 which means that I paid a little over $40 for the set of 3 DVDs.

btw - It appears that the new dvds are already avail. in France. http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006B5RP/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_1/171-3363270-6901868

Creature is my most anticipated of the Universal classics. Can't wait for that one! Too bad it's not in 3-D. :(

October 5th is gonna suck. So much stuff to get.

Absolutely (except on the statue selling - they are so cute!). The Gift Set has to be one of the best-looking boxsets ever created. So sturdy it survived the horrors of international air freight. Even with the exchange rate, I essentially got them at a bargain basement price.

So much stuff to plough through on those discs, it is also quite possibly the most comprehensive box I've bought.

I'll certainly buy these one way or the other, but I have no idea where I'm going to put all these boxes! (Still, I'm a willing slave).

EXCELLENT news. What about PHANTOM OF THE OPERA? They can´t make a box set of ONE, but sure deserves a re-release.

I had thought about that, I wish they'd have a set with various flicks like Phantom of the Opera, The Old Dark House, etc... That'd be a great set.

Ugh - try as I might, I can't get into The Phantom of the Opera with Claude Rains. It's not him, but all that infernal music, it's just soooo bad. I have the "Old Dark House" which is put out by Kino. It's an excellent film, but doesn't really feel as though it fits such a set, imo. Anyway, I recommend the Kino version, it's jam-packed with features!

Great news, so long as they package them better this time around I'll be very pleased.

  15. Thank god Universal are taking their classic monster fliks seriously. I've been waiting for years for many of these to come out and it gives me an incentive to flog off my old VHS copies of the mummy films.

I'm really excited to hear about this. Universal made so many great classic horror movies and each one in the announced box set is a keeper. I don't own any of these movies but have seen a few of them and liked them all.

  18. Wow! Are they going to release a boxed set of all of them with new busts? That would be so cool
