Pick your most wanted:
even though i have the crappy artisan dvd of fright night part 2 we need desperatly a widescreen remastered dvd i would be happy with even again with no bonus features just a better transfer.
phantasm II is my second pick i have a feeling it will eventually come to region 1 dvd the question is just when???
Phantasm II is long overdue.
Four-way tie in my heart:
Fright Night Part II (this needs a better transfer, plus WIDESCREEN)
Phantasm II (long, long overdue)
Rampage (extremely underrated serial killer flick from Friedkin)
I went with Prison. Give us a special edition DVD with Viggo commentary right fuckin' now!
Edge of the Axe gets my vote, but Phantasm 2 definitely needs a release too.
Edge of the Axe for sure.Rejuventor would be nice too.
even though its pretty obvious we'll never get a phantasm sphere like the have in region 2, we should at least be able to have the whole series. fright night part II right after.
Prison for me. Not a great movie but it was my introduction to Renny Harlin, stars Viggo M. in an early role, has good gore f/x, and it really is a beautiful looking movie. Say what you will about Harlin but his films are always loaded with style.
actaully i remember when Phantasm IV came out on dvd last year by anchor angus scrimm said a region 1 phantasm sphere set is very likely but will only have parts 1,3,4 for sure and part 2 will most likely will not be included
This sounds interesting. Harlin is hit or miss with me. I love Deep Blue Sea, but couldn't sit through Long Kiss Goodnight. Nightmare 4 is just a long joke to me, but if I'm in the right mood that's a good thing.
The sequels do be getting dogged in R1. Even though I couldn't stand Fright Night 2 I'd give it one more chance if it had a decent dvd (I pased on the old one repeatedly thinking it would be in print forever and hopefully replaced with WS at least.) Phantasm 2 is most deserving from the list, but wouldn't head my list thanks to the R2 sphere. I want to check out Prison now.
I have the Phantasm Sphere DVD Box set, but I'd still like to have a better version of part 2 and 3 on DVD. Also A better version of Fright Night 2. The current Artisan DVD is a joke. I was so pissed off when I bought it and saw my Laserdisc was better quality than this DVD. I'm glad I bought it used for $4. If I would've paid anymore for a VHS Quality DVD I would've been pissed off. I've been skeptical about buying older DVD's from Artisan since I've bought this. It was a poor excuse for a DVD.
Fright Night 2, in widescreen. Artisan certainly released some shitty transfers...
Prison!!! This film tops my list for R1 release. It's still my favorite Renny Harlin film.
Prison gets my vote. Great movie.
You should see it. It isn't great but there is something there. I too was BUMMED at NOES 4 because of how campy it was but Prison is def. a little darker. It is still an Empire Pics film, but you see some vision in his direction, especially visually.
PAPERHOUSE would be my first choice (it's out in the U.K.),with JACK'S BACK and RAMPAGE coming in tied for second.Actually,RAMPAGE needs a full restoration ,William Friedkin's film was heavily trimmed before it's release.
Prison gets my vote. Glad there's a little love for Harlin here. I still enjoy watching Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger, and Deep Blue Sea. Pure entertainment. It would be nice if Harlin could make another decent horror movie. His latest attempt (Exorcist: The Beginning)was a huge misfire. To be fair, the other version was no great shakes. My second pick would've been Phantasm II. The AB UK DVD suits me just fine. Wouldn't mind having a DVD of My Best Friend's a Vampire. It's a guilty pleasure.
The Rejuvenator, Phantasm 2 (Region 1), and Prison would all be nice. PeopleAcross the Lake would be cool as well. It's not a bad made for TV horror.Fright Night 2 in widescreen is a much needed dvd as well. I always thought that Fright Night would have made a great cable series, the comics were pretty cool so a series would follow suit.
I haven't heard of half these films. I'm real glad I have a copy of Phantasm 2 and Fright Night 2. Those deserve a R1 release for Phantasm 2 and a new upgraded release for FN 2!
Oh that is just extremely gay. So I just bought the Fullscreen version. Is the Widescreen any better quality or does it still look like an old VHS tape?
