My first LD purchase in a LOOOOOONNNNNNNNG time. I'm at the point now where LD is pretty much nostalgia only. I spin discs on rare occasion these days. Mainly some Full Moon stuff either not on DVD or I don't have the DVD.

Anyway, I picked up a rare (rare in the sense it is hard to find, not expensive) Japanese box set of Sledge Hammer Season Two. I have the DVDs and the LD is actually in Japanese audio, so I will unlikely ever spin a disc. I got it for the artwork alone. And at a price of $15, I aint complaining.

I'll always love the format but with a 16x9 TV, it just doesn't work well. As it is I hardly buy anything on DVD these days as I figure eventually I'll move to an HD format when I can afford it.

No it doesn't. To be honest, I actually went ahead and bought an analog television just for the the laserdisc player and my old console games.

Well, I have a CRT 16x9, which is probably the best compromise I can make with LD for the time being. But in a few years...well, eventually I will get a projector or something.

I'm only buying CRT 16:9 TV's because the picture is wonderful!
I bought THE FRIGHTENERS Director's Box Set from a fellow HorrorDvd-er (;)) a few years ago. I sold it on Ebay along with RE-ANIMATOR for about $50 in 2006. I've been kicking myself for that! I didn't want to get rid of them, but needed the money at the time. Well: I found both of them at the used store. I purchased THE FRIGHTENERS Box Set again for $5.99. Mint Condition!
    RE-ANIMATOR is $6.99 but I didn't get it. Maybe I'll go back tonight...

Damn.....The Frighteners box set for $5.99. I nominate that for "LD Find of the Year".

That's always been on my list, but not a "must-buy" for me, unless I were to find it for say, $5.99. I do have the DTS edition on LD, and that keeps me entertained.

Re-Animator is a good disc for the cover art and gatefold, but the Elite Millenium Edition DVD is definitely the way to go. Although my LD edition is signed by Stuart Gordon so I believe I'll hold on to it.

Gawsh, yeah! They had the STAR WARS boxset (the one with the original cuts of the films) for only $7.99 a few weeks ago.
The VAL LEWTON boxset is sitting on the shelf priced at $29.99. I wish they would lower it!
How about the T2 boxset for $3.99???? Can you imagine if those were the prices back in the day!
JAWS CLV boxset is $4.99 and still sitting on the shelf.

You are correct. Sorry for that! It was...well, someone here, LOL. I have been looking for DAWN (not to buy, but just out of curio) and they did have the Elite CAV over the summer and it sold for $9.99. You never know, though.

That's one of the discs I want (Elite CAV Dawn), and I'd have gladly paid $10 for it!

Thus far - nothing new to report. There were 3 copies of ALIENS Theatrical Cut for $3.00 in various states of condition.
The Val Lewton Box set was $19.99 this time. Nothing else, really.

Yeah, that totally set off my "what the hell?" meter. LDDB doesn't list an Elite edition. Maybe it's one of the Japanese editions? I had the one called Sanguelia, but it was a pretty crummy transfer. The Roan edition blew it away. I've heard there's some other Japanese releases of Fulci films that are stunning though...

I've won a couple of LD auctions as well, though the discs haven't arrived. Last week I won Vanessa Mae: The Red Hot Tour. She's the Singaporean violinist who infuses rock and roll into her classical violin playing. And she's not well-respected within the classical community despite her amazing ability, because she uses her sex appeal and wears skimpy outfits on stage. Not sure if I bought the disc for the music (she's damn good) or the skimpy outfits.

Yesterday I won The Iceman Cometh, a Hong Kong flick from '91 starring Yuen Biao and Maggie Cheung. Don't know a thing about it, but a movie with those two HAS to be good. I think it can be mathematically proven.

Finally, I lost an auction for Viva Erotica, one of Shu Qi's early skin flicks. This one even has her So Close co-star, Karen Mok. Kinda pissed I lost out on that one.

I got one more disc I'm bidding on, but I don't wanna jinx it.
