Make sure you check that one for laser rot, as I believe that was a Columbia/Tri-Star disc.
I had forgotten all about the Columbia Curse! And after checking the newsgroups out, it seems that HEAVY METAL is on many "rotter" lists! My money has already been sent too! I'm not feeling good about this one now....:nervous:
first ld's on the shelf
the lion king letterbox edition for 5 bucks. my daughter has never seen this movie and the only one i ever see on shelves is part 2. the disc sounds great!
You didn't happen to swing by Amoeba San Francisco have ya: Both Scanners LD's are gone - I went looking to buy one for ya and they were sold. Also gone were two SUSPIRIA LD's (I wanted one since they were both in mint condition) and the Japanese RUSH CHRONICLES LD - I'll never "wait" again!
But damn, you should never waffle on import music LDs, they're rare as hell.
And Suspiria is a must-own LD for any fan. The soundtrack is quite different than the DVD, and you should listen to both to see which one you prefer. It's not a bad looking LD, either.
UPDATE: Ok....so I emailed the seller about the HEAVY METAL LD and he checks it out and emails me back. Sure enough....ROTTED! At least the seller was honest about it. I offered to still buy the movie book off him if he agreed to also give a refund for the adjusted shipping. He did and the movie book is on the way.......so it ended-up pretty good actually......

All hail the Hypnotoad!
Well, I just made a decent E-Bay score of some Hong Kong movies:
Bride With White Hair
Bride With White Hair 2
Deadful Melody (Brigitte Lin and Yuen Biao)
Executioners (Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Cheung, and Anita Mui)
Zu: Warriors From Magic Mountain
Butterfly and Sword (more Michelle Yeoh)
China O'Brien II
House of Usher, The (1988)
About a buck each.
More Hong Kong just added to my LD collection: Michelle Yeoh's Wonder 7
Two unopened X-Files discs: "The Blessing Way/Paper Clip" and "Squeeze/Tooms"
Because I don't feel like shelling out for the entire season boxsets just to get to the handful of episodes that I really want.
BTW, it's weird paying $5.00 for a still-sealed disc and getting it and noticing the original sale sticker on the plastic for $29.98....
I have several X-Files LDs, 'cause I don't really like the series enough to buy box sets. I like single "monster" episodes, could care less about alien visitors or government conspiracies.
I own that Squeeze/Tooms disc (which is a perfect two-part story), as well as Anasazi/Humbug (the Jim Rose circus freaks episode), Conduit/Ice (The Thing-inspired episode), Irresistable/Die Hand Die Verletzt, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose/War of the Coprophages, and Herrenvolk/Home (possibly the most infamous X-Files episode
Yep, you can get 'em cheap, and if you're just a casual X-Files fan, it's definitely the way to go.
King Kong w/ Commentary (Image)
aliens wide screen special edition box $7.00
Scream Greats, Vol. 1: Tom Savini, Master of Horror Make-up
And TCM1 should be on it's way.
Those are good scores. I don't know if that Savini doc will ever make it to DVD, due to the films shown. Most of them are now owned by different companies.
And the TCM disc is a piece of work. Hopefully the cover is in good condition. I got one factory sealed a couple of years ago.
My latest E-Bay win? Tomorrow Never Dies, DTS
Well it turns out the TCM LD is from another company called MPI Home Video, and if I had known someone else issued a LD I would have double checked.
The cover says, "All-New Restored Version - Uncut & Unedited" so I'll have to check it out maybe against the other LD or the DVD and see.
But that'll teach me, from now on I'll always ask for specific details on any LD/DVD/Etc..
bleah. You definitely want the Elite version of TCM.
Being an ultra newbie to LD's, I don't have any great purchases. However, I did pick up Eyes Without A Face. I love this movie, and I can't find it on dvd.
