My DVDs arrived a couple of days ago. They all seem very nice indeed. The only one I have seen before is Cannibal Apocalypse. I just placed another order with Xploited: What Have They Done To Your Daughters?(Dallamano,Koch release) Plot of Fear (Cavara) Selling stuff (mainly CDs) on the internet gives me the opportunity to do some catching up!
I bought Cannibal Holocaust today. This one: http://www.xploitedcinema.com/dvds/dvds.asp?title=7484 Image quality is great.Only 12 Euros.
Funny,I just discovered that Duccio Tessari co-wrote Bava's "Hercules" .Nothing shocking but cool anyway.
Tessari's work is a pretty decent contribution to Italian cinema. He proved his skills within various genres and directed some great flicks but I feel he's still pretty much overlooked / underrated by Eurocult fans. Definitely a case for NoShame or BU!
I haven't seen any of his movies yet but I will soon with The Puzzle. I thought about buying the Mariposa (Bloodstained Butterfly) disc but decided not to.I'm not sure I can remove the subs.Perhaps I will buy it in the future but I heard the Medusa disc is superior (no subs though!).So I'll probably wait for another company to release it (who knows,Another World Entertainment perhaps?).
"What Have They Done..." is an excellent film, easily one of the best story/mystery-driven Italian films from that period. Beautiful music and very above-average acting.
And a great transfer: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=58474 I'm really looking forward to it .
talking about fine transfers... I have also bought today (in Aachen, Germany) the Django Italo-Western-Box, Johnny Hamlet and Sentenza La Morte from Koch Media (and Killer Nun, Twins Of Evil, Castle Of The Walking Dead, The Crazies, great German editions for about 9.99€ a piece). The Box is a beauty which folds out like a cross and has, besides 3 westerns (with stunning transfers and English subs) a CD with a soundtrack from the films and a little booklet (in German) for 50€ (1€ = almost 1$), amazing value!! http://www.xploitedcinema.com/dvds/dvds.asp?title=5402 Very happy with them all!
I was also thinking about buying the Italo Western box by Koch. Also that Sergio Sollima box. Koch is a great label according to various reviews. http://www.senseofview.de/reviews/genre/WE for example.
only thing that is bothersome is those wacky Germans redub every movie, so about half of their product is unsuitable to English speaking people because they only include a German dub or subtitles.
At least I can read German On most of these discs there's actually an Englsh option. Not all boxes indicate this though (according to Xploited): http://www.xploitedcinema.com/dvds/dvds.asp?title=5904 I received my What have they done.. disc today .Together with E Tanta Paura.Very nice .
My next Euro order will be: DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE (Medusa) ZEDER (Fox) WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOUR DAUGHTERS? (Koch Media) I decided it was time to start stocking up on some more great PAL releases to put my region-free player to the test.

Virgin of Nuremberg (Margheriti) - I wanted to add some Bava but went with Margheriti instead. Ace High - Hey it's cheap and has Spencer and Hill and Eli Wallach.Has got to be fun .
