    WTF!?
I thought they also used a man in suit and puppetry, but nope, it's fully CGI.
I'm usually pretty good at spotting CGI, but this time, they fooled me:

Yeah, I knew it was CGI. I stayed to watch the credits and although much of them were in Japanese, you could see the CGI references in the listings..and let me tell you, the damn credits were almost a long as the dialogue in the film . A LOT of people worked on this film. Also, I don't think this CGI was nearly as good as the latest American CGI Godzilla. I still like the new American version much better.

I haven't seen the film yet, only some scenes.
In those scenes I thought it was a guy in suit, but could be cause he didn't do any crazy moves, and walked like he used to do in the good old days ;)

Exactly my point. At least the American CGI from the last film didn't have a creature that was stiff in appearance. Toho's latest CGI is good, but not that good. ;)

I hope Toho loosen him up a bit, in the sequels.
Especially if he's gonna fight some monsters ;)

I hope we don't have to wait too long for the blu-ray release.

I hope not either. Will definitely add it to my collection. I keep all of the DVD releases, rather than trade them in after getting the blu because they vary so much, especially the covers, etc. They are not always the same and I am such a big Godzilla fan that I like having both.

That would be nice. Some of the dialogue was so fast during the film, I couldn't read it fast enough; especially when they had subtitles on both the top and bottom of the screen.

It took Funimation almost a year to get Attack on Titan out on DVD/BD here in the States. I suspect the same with Shin Godzilla. May have to spring for Asian releases if you want it earlier.

I've watched Shin Godzilla twice now and found it absolutely stunning. There's shots in this one that made my jaw drop....and that ending!

No spoilers but looking forward to picking it up whenever it drops here.

I love having the dub on the cheesier later Showa films but on this one? I don't need it.

I saw it in the theater and it was the most heavily dialogued Godzilla film I ever watched. Christ, I could barely keep up with the subtitles. If they have someone dubbing it, it would have to be Speedy Gonzales. ;)

Saw the movie, and holy shit did Godzilla kick ass!! :)

The version I saw was only 100 minutes, so the pacing was pretty fast, and G showed up pretty early.
His early form was cheesy, but in a fun old school way.
But at the same time, there was major destruction, so it was bizarre to see this "happy face" during all the mayhem :D

And DAMN, the first time he uses his new atomic breath, my jaw was on the floor!
It was the most epic destruction I have ever seen!!

At first I heard rumors about practical, but then they said it was CGI.
But there IS practical FX in the movie. Especially in the slower moving shots, and close ups, where they use animatronics.
Some of the CGI shots you could tell, when they went full animation, but most of the time it was hard to tell them apart.
Also, there were a few shots where you really could tell that the exploding building was a miniature.
But if someone told me to point out every effect shot and ask me if it was all CGI or practical, I bet I would fail pretty hard at some of them :D

Loved the new design, and I wonder if he got any more tricks up his sleeve, for the sequels.

Also, when the original Godzilla themes were used, it put a HUGE smile on my face :)
It's been far too long, since we last heard them.

They better hurry up, cause I want a new movie every fucking year :D

Me too. I never want Toho to stop making films. Love Godzilla. He is the King.
