    Hey all,

Was just listening to this week's deadpit interview with Bill Lustig (great stuff) over at Deadpit.com. He mentioned that we will be getting a full treatment of the overlooked Argento film THE STENDHAL SYNDROME starring Asia (of course). :fire:

This means we can chuck that bloody Troma travesty (or get a fortune for it on Ebay).

Sounds like the boys at the pit have a cool Lucky McKee interview coming soon.

You didn't do that ages ago? There was an excellent release in Italy, and a fine transfer in the UK (on the THIRD release of the film). So A/V might not get better, but the extras would be welcome.

Finally someone pried it always from Lloyd's grubby hands.

It's also good to hear some news from Blue Underground. After Don May stole the show with some recent acquisitions like Maniac Cop I was beginning to wonder if Lustig had anything left considering he couldn't seem to get a hold of his own film. Looks like ole Bill had his eye on another prize.

I'd love to get rid of my Troma disc, but there have been a few times when Lustig has announced a title only to back out of it later on (One Dark Night, anyone?). I think I'll be keeping it for the moment.

At any rate, it's good to see that Lustig hasn't completely given up yet.

I have the Medusa disc, which I think is pretty definitive. I can't imagine any extras that will make me triple-dip. I actually still have the Troma disc because I think some of the extras are hilariously cheesy. Of course, none of them are Stendhal-related, but I still enjoy them. :)

Yeah, I still have my Troma disc - I have no idea why.

Now this is news I really like to hear!!!!
Damn,I have the shoddy Dutch disc which is as muddy as the Troma disc.
This really made my day.I just know Stendhal is a great film but I never watched it with pleasure :(
Now is the chance to get my revenge!!

And yes, although I'd really like them to release Four Flies,it's not as great as the hype makes it out to be.
    Still typically Argento though.

It's about time. The old R1 just reminds me how much I hate troma.

Yeah, me too, but it will be great to upgrade this one. I like this Argento film. I've seen it a few times. I first had a copy off a Jap. Laser, then I bought the Troma DVD, because I got it used for $8, so didn't invest much in it!!

Lustig said the reason they dropped One Dark Night was because they couldn't find a print in good enough condition to live up to their standards. After viewing the Shriek Show disc, I can see what he means. Sure, it's definitely watchable and light years ahead of something put out by ... say ... ummm ... Troma ... but it's afflicted with scratches, dirt and cigarette burns. I'm pretty sure it came from a release print, rather than a negative. Oh well, the movie still rocks so I won't complain ... much.

Naah. I can only watch region free on my computer, so it needs to be pretty special for me to buy one.

I'm thinking since this film is considerably newer than something like One Dark Night that we'll be getting a very good quality print. But, yeah, I'll hold onto my Troma disc until I've got a new copy in my hand.

I know all of that, but knowing the reasoning behind it doesn't change the fact that Lustig has a history of jumping the gun with these kind of announcements.

  17. I've been wanting to pick this up, but hesitate to get the Troma disc. Now, I do have a handful of Troma discs in my collection and am glad to have them, but I think they're more suited to doing justice to Def by Temptation than Dario Argento stuff. Can't wait for this to come out.

I have two copies already (the seriously flawed Troma disc and an extraless British release),I think I will triple dip for some solid extras and a superior transfer, though.
