"Don Brown has just brought word that Miike has just began filming his latest film entitled Sukiyaki Uestan: Django, which translates to Sukiyaki Western: Django.

Yes, my friends, it is indeed a western, but in typical Miike tradition it is not what you think. What does the crazy director have up his sleeve you say? Well this western is a battle between the Minamoto and Taira clans who fought way back in the 1100s. But the stangeness does not stop there, oh no, this film will also be completely in English.

The cast which includes Ito Hideaki, Sato Koichi, Kimura Yoshino, Momoi Kaori, Iseya Yusuke and Ando Masanobu all went through a English language training that lasted them an entire two months.

Did I mention Quentin Tarantino will appear in the film?"

    Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Could care less about the hyped up Tarantino being in it, he's a media whore I could without. However, the prospect of six asian actors learning English in only two months make this essential viewing :D

Okay, so they probably simply went the phonetic route, and it is Miike which is recommendation enough.

Haa, seems to me like Miike has something in common with Fulci. Great news.

I'd rather hear it with really bad english dubbing. All they need to do is open and close their mouths, the dubbing will take care of the rest. :D

Seriously though, I'm just not interested in hearing native japanese speakers speaking english. I guess this could turn out okay, Miike almost never disappoints me.

I saw this tonight at the local theatre, and it was amazing. Easily my favorite film of the year. Such a stunning and beautiful film, definitely different then Miike's other works but so amazing. It's out on DVD now I guess, so I highly recommend picking it up!

I rented this last week and was completely blown away. It's amazing to see a Japanese director tackle a genre that was pretty much founded on Akira Kurisawa and The Seven Samurai.
