"In this prequel to “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” a young nurse is kidnapped by four violent teens who escape from a mental hospital and take her on a road trip from hell. Pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind; molding him into the monster we now call Leatherface."

Brought to you by the INSIDE directors, which is the best part IMO

The guys from Inside and Livide have me far more interested than I should be in this. Seeing as I'm a huge fan of the first 4 "Chainsaw's", and their increasing kooky-ness, I'm rather looking forward to the bizarreness where this sounds like it's going.

Good choice of directors, but the plot is just too laughable and incredibly ridiculous for me to take seriously at all.

I feel the same way, since I absolutely loved INSIDE. But, Jesus, it's getting to the point where each franchise is getting rebooted after 1 or 2 movies. Why even bother calling him Leatherface? Change the location and call it something different. I think movies like HATCHET and COLD PREY have proven that you can create a new setting/killer and spawn a new franchise that us fans will really go for...you just have to make that slight bit of effort.

Honest question: how does the movie going population even keep up with the reboots/remakes/sequels/prequels? This forum has people that are hardcore into the genre so we pay more attention than most. But how are casual moviegoers supposed to keep up with what version of a movie they're watching?

I dont think they care. They'll watch anything with a "rapper" in it. Barely look up at the screen over their phones (if they're not watching it ON their phone!). Oh, and the female cast members must refer to their friends as "biatches".

    Did I miss anything?

I just threw up in my mouth thinking back to the atrocious dialogue in the recent All Cheerleaders Die.

I will watch but would've preferred a sequel to 3D.

The average Joe and Jane movie goer doesn't give a crap. Going to the movies is just the thing to do. They don't care what they are seeing and could care less. So they play and chat on their cell phone the whole movie.

    Garbage. Shit.

What the hell does this ^ shit have to do with TCM? Leatherface is not an escaped mental patient! Despite some posters here jizzing all over them, the hacks behind this treatment are forgetting one of the most basic things about TCM:

    THE SAW IS FAMILY.

Central to the mythos of TCM is that the family (not just Leatherface) has lived in rural near-isolation for generations, passed by and ignored by the modern world. So they make their own way, with their own traditions: Cannibalism. As we saw in TC 3-D, Leatherface w/o his family is just another slasher film. Despite how bad that film was, they should just continue on with the further adventures of Alexandra Daddario's breasts and old Leatherface. The current obsession with prequels and origins over-explaining everything is tiresome, and usually a creative dead-end. This film is headed in the wrong direction, plus we already had both a prequel (TCM: The Beginning) and an installment titled Leatherface (TCM 3).

Mark my words. This is like making Jason a body-swapping parasite. Michael Myers an incestuous druid assassin. Godzilla afraid of the military. The Space Jockey a giant albino. It is shit and it will fail.

I don't think they care. I think the filmmakers correctly assume that if you follow the "series", disjointed as it is, then you know, but the films are kind of meant to work as stand-alone set pieces, too, so that the casual movie goer gets a complete experience. Take the last Chainsaw film (which I enjoyed)… does it really require any knowledge of the series? Not really. Between prologue, exposition and common sense it's pretty easily to follow.

Well that gotta be the worst plot, so far, for the TCM franchise....

To be fair, there's really no continuity in the series whatsoever.

    III ignores 2
Next Generation ignores 2 and III
3D ignores 2, III, and The Next Generation

They're all pretty much direct sequels to the first film.

Then the remake and The Beginning do their own thing.

This is not a series you watch for logic.

Good point. part 3 is the most mystifying because it kind of exists in a world where Leatherface is just "LEATHERFACE". Like the way we think of Dracula now. He just "is". He has no continuity or character arc.

Which is kinda ironic as it's titled "Leatherface: TCM 3" rather than just "TCM 3" alone. TCM 3 doesn't acknowledge the two previous films at all and assumes viewers know all about who "LF" is and what he and his family are all about.
