Kinda like those Eliquis, Xarelto or University of Pheonix commercials. They know their tried and true lensflare as well as their amber/blue color combo that's for sure.

    Strange that it's VOD.

Not really. I heard it had production issues and numerous reshoots. Sounded messy and has been in production for years.

Yeah, if you know the behind-the-scenes details. But the origin story from one of horror's beloved films by the directors of Inside? Seems like a big deal to me. For it not to get a theatrical release suggests less-than-good things.

Well that was kind of my point. It's also why I haven't had high hopes for this as it seems like it could be pretty bad. It took them this long just to release a trailer and the couple of promo pictures before it didn't do anything to get me excited.

I agree with this point, and made a similar one in this thread.

Even the bad Texas Chainsaw movies have been fun. Yes, I even like The Next Generation and 3D.

Disappointed I probably won't get to see this on the big screen, but as long as they keep making them I'll be watching.

I don't even like TCM2 so I definitely pass on those bad ones. I like 1, 3, remake and am partial to The Beginning only because I find it focuses too much on the cop with Leatherface being more of a secondary character. The gore in the last one is great though.

I'm a fan of them all apart from next generation, that was a fucking awful film, I really enjoyed 3D, sure there problems with the time line, but if you can ignore that there's a fun movie to be had!

    Also:

Leatherface will premiere on DirecTV on September 21, 2017 , then will open in a limited release and arrive on VOD October 20, 2017

2 ways to look at this news. It's not a good film OR the movie is going to be way to violent(unrated) to be released in theaters. Remember this film is from the guys that brought us Inside & that was pretty dam nasty.

But it's already been rated R, it was rated months ago, it's had no problems getting a rating, unlike all the other recent sequels which suggests this is tamer not stronger than previous entries.

That's true, didn't realize that. But it's hard to believe that it would be tamer especially coming from the guys that made it. Well have to wait and see.

I'm gonna catch this regardless. My expectations are gonna stay pretty low even though the trailers look really good.

That latest trailer looked much better. I'm keeping my expectations way low too but now I'm at least a little more curious to check it out.

The fact it premieres on TV does not bode well to me, I would expect a fair size theatrical run, like you say though, we'll have to wait and see. Fingers crossed.

It's definitely not a good sign. Seems to indicate problems.

I saw it last night and I was pretty let down. It was a decent movie I guess but it didn't feel like a TCM movie. It felt like an average Wrong Turn sequel or maybe a syfy original movie and although it had plenty of gore I really disliked what they did with the actual Leatherface character. He was all wrong in my opinion (the look, the actions, the personality). It didn't have much in the way of suspense or atmosphere either. There were some nice nods to the original here and there but overall just kind of ruined the character in my opinion. I really hate to say that about a franchise I enioy, but I have to be honest...

Just watched this myself and was pretty let down (not that I had high hopes). All the more leatherface centred stuff happens right at the end of the film because they were playing this sort of twist. It really didn't feel right or like much of a TCM film. The music took me out of it quite a few times also. It just felt wrong for this film.
