Holy crap... 7.1 and everything. I have a bit of a weakness for this film so I'll be picking it up for sure (just as soon as I get a damn blu-ray player lol)

This will be mine. I'm also interested in seeing the New York Locations Then and Now featurette, and of course the Zora interview.

Day one purchase for me. I've been meaning to replace my import (although it has a wonderful transfer) but couldn't bring myself to do it for the current domestic DVD. This is a definite buy.

I've actually never seen this film, so what better way to be introduced to it?

I'd like to see the Beyond released on blu, though. Wish that one would've reverted to BU, then we'd probably be seeing that one released as well.

I'm psyched for this!! In Fangoria's 30th Anniversary issue, Blue Underground did a back cover ad for Blu-Ray releases only. In this ad, along with New York Ripper, they also announced coming soon to Blu-Ray...
    The Crazies
    The Toolbox Murders
Living Dead at the Machester Morgue
    Daughters of Darkness
    Vampyres
    The Blood Spattered Bride
    Maniac: 30th Anniversary Special Edition

I haven't gone Blu Ray yet, but where are they getting the "extra" definition on these movies? Wouldn't they have to go back to original negatives to generate a high definition source? Once the a standard definition transfer (even anamorphically) has been made, it will always be standard definition.

Are they taking these SD transfers and just scaling them up to HD? That's not really HD. That's kind of what happened with Stendhal Syndrome, right?

Probably for the last five years or so, whenever a movie was upgraded on DVD or mastered for the first time, more than likely a much higher resolution digital file has been stored of each flying spot scan of the negative. Of course, before Blu-ray or HD-DVD, they were just downconverted to DVD (hence why so many DVDs state that they are "newly mastered in high definition") for release. So, basically, many companies are sitting on hundreds of different high definition transfers of big films that still haven't yet been released on DVD. It likely comes down to a combination of the still expensive cost per disc that Blu-ray commands, and the desire to spread out sales by liquidating existing DVD product before introducing higher definition upgrades. This is all the more evident when you look at just how many movies out there are already HD on television or video game services, but not yet released on disc.

I don't even know what the hell happened to Stendhal, but it wasn't just upconverted from a DVD master. The sharpness and such is improved over the DVD version, but the digital noise (don't ask me how it got there) was just greatly magnified with the added resolution.

Good news on all the upcoming Blus, but, uh, where is Suspiria. Seriously.

Here's hoping Jeremy's verbage still makes its way to the back cover!

If SUSPIRIA's BR doesn't include the original soundtrack, they can suck my dick for all eternity.

    Will purchase NYR though.

I like New York Ripper and all, but what is taking so long for The Beyond and Zombie? Who has the rights to those titles, currently?

I believe I read that BU holds the exclusive rights to Zombie effective 2 years after the release of the Shriek Show DVD. And Grindhouse owns The Beyond.
