seems that the Synapse Blu-Ray looks amazing but I went with the Cult Labs 4K-disc so I'll wait to see how that turns out in the end :)

    Interesting highlights: http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x=588&y=268&d1=11235&d2=9917&s1=110446&s2=96336&l=0&i=11&go=1

So there's some ranges that I guess Synapse tweaked beyond just contrast to makes theirs pop because the Synapse restoration has less highlights even if those highlights are bolder. If anything the TLE looks more contrast boosted here. But it would have to have been applied first, then the TLE color range was flattened to create the grey cast. At least that's what would have had to of logically happened to my amateur eyes.

Synapse release looks beyond beautiful. Some shots in the TLE version have that "current" murky green/yellow tint so popular in movies, TV and commercials.

If one thing really pops out with the TLE restoration, it's the Yellow tint. In some screenshots it's not that bad, but in others it's just glaringly obvious. It just looks overly dull in comparison to the Synapse restoration.

^^^ besides less compression in the PNG screenshots, I'm honestly not seeing anything different between them zbinks.

I think it might be my browser (Google Chrome) causing an issue with PNG images. I pulled them up in Internet Explorer and in an Image Viewer and the results seem normal.

when i got the tle disk i was pretty happy with it in comparison with the old blown out discs we had been stuck with over the years.i still didn't like the scenes where dominant blue was changed to dominant green because it altered the atmosphere of those scenes.i also felt it looked a bit soft in many scenes mostly in the first half hour or so.after seeing the synapse restoration there really is no comparison.it makes that green tint all the more obvious.i had thought that i would keep both versions but now the tle just looks like someone took a vitamin piss all over it.i am very happy to finally have the synapse.

As far as the U.K. disc is concerned I watched it this weekend and I thought it looked great. I have no idea which version is most correct in terms of color, but while some scenes looked a little drab, the images from within the school looked vibrant as far as colors go, and there seemed to be clearer versions of red, pink, maroon etc everywhere. The different blue shades also impressed.
The sound was a let down though , the dialogue seemed muffled compared to the music score, I only had the 5.1 mix on though.

I saw the TLE version in the theaters and it was gorgeous.

Fair warning, SteelBook® fans, CultFilms has confirmed that this is actually a FuturePak®, and claims that they were "referring to a generic metal disc case and not a specific brand." They did use the terms "Steelbook" and "Steelcase," interchangeably in their Indiegogo campaign, but I'm skeptical of the legitimacy of that claim. I seem to recall hearing that Scanavo places a 3,000 unit minimum order restriction on the production of SteelBooks. CultFilms limited this release to 950 units, and I suspect Scanavo may have turned them down when they tried to place a smaller order.

If the picture is indicative of the final product, it's definitely not a SteelBook, but a MetalPak of some origin. You can tell by the spine on two of the pictures.

I've been trying to work out what the hell the cover actually is! with the stupid CF logo's over the picture, it makes it very difficult, seriously what's with this, it's a picture of fucking suspiria, not templates for the new 10 pound note!

Yeah, they're watermarking is excessive. As far as I can tell, it appears to be a ballerina covered in blood obscured by a red veil or sheet of sorts.

I'm confused, what is this? Just a different release from Synapse? Euro version? Timing is interesting.

Looks like the Synapse one is disappearing fast - BullMoose had some last night for $65 and this morning they're all gone.

It's a UK UHD release based on the other 4K restoration by TLEFilms.

    Thanks for clarifying.

Is it safe to say the Synapse version is OOP?

Yeah, Synapse already stated it was OOP... but of course there are still copies out there at various retailers. But after they are gone, it's gone and the scalpers fully take over.
