coming same day as the blu-ray for the first film and jackie earle hayley's freddy is pictured on the dvd box set

this is disapointing news and i guess this means no new editions of 2-7

also i guess this means no box set for blu-ray yet!

here's the link with the art work

so unless there is new special features or high def transfer i'll pass on this set

Yeah it's probably just a repackaging of the old discs. I think any self-respecting fan of the series probably already owns the first box set and if they don't, then it can still be had for dirt cheap.

The only thing really missing from the old releases were sequel commentaries and deleted scenes. Still, it's too bad we won't be getting them.

Super lame, still kids will buy it after seeing the remake. For us the fans, I hope nobody buys this abortion (unless is loaded with new killer extras, in which case I'll have to throw away the new box and put the discs in the old one.).

8 discs/8 movies... does that mean it's going to include Freddy vs Jason and drop the bonus features disc from the previous boxed set?

I got the old boxed set at Sam's Club for twenty bucks and change about a year ago.

Looks like a Brentwood box set cover art. Wake me when they get it right on blu-ray.

i will get the first film on blu-ray coming the same day and also it has movie cash to see the remake which is cool here's the link to the back artwork

Why spend the money on that when you can get those same flicks for under $30 with those two combo sets released a little while ago.

This is a disgrace. I urge everyone to contact Warner Bros. and complain. If they want to remake the movie, fine, whatever. But to use a completely different actor to promote and sell a boxset of the original films when the actor in question wasn't even in the films... that is the last straw.

You know what will happen. No one will buy this disgrace, and then Warner will say that there isn't enough interest in the movies to warrent special editions. This remake better make a ton of cash at the box office.

Kinda sums up how I feel. I don't think contacting WB is going to a fuck of good, they know who they are targeting this new box at and my friends, it's not us. They want the children!
At least the face is mostly obscured on the cover so you can pretend it's really Freddy. (I'm reaching here I know)
I'm still going to give the reduex a try as the preview looked pretty fucking dope, and I think Haley will be a fine new Freddy, but putting him on the cover is in many ways dumber than putting Jason the cover of Friday the 13th 1.
This makes it easier to buy the first film on blu, get my movie cash that way and hopefully a sweet new bd with it, and not worry about missing a new set. That is unless they have another set planned for when the bd/dvd of the remake shelfs, in that case everyone will call bullshit and the bean-counters and stock-holders can calculate the damage.
I'm almost happy. Like with the 4 film favorites or Jason box from NL, I could care less about this release, I'll laugh at it when I see it in stores and I'll continue to enjoy my old boxset.

To be honest, the only one I really care about is part 1. These movies got REALLY bad, about as bad as the Halloween series got. Part 2 has its moments, but the original is still one solid flick. And if the transfer on this blu-ray is going to be the same one used by Alliance here in Canada, that's even better. It's seriously one STUNNING transfer. Blows the DVD away.

These movies (mainly the first four) have always meant alot to so many people. By the fifth one, they kind have lost their way. It's strange that we have had only one DVD release of the entire series. The Nightmare Encyclopedia was good, but if we could get a Blu-ray Boxset similar to the Alien Quadrilogy as far as quality and extras, I would be ecstatic.
