You know, I've owned this DVD for months but have yet to get around to watching it. Remake would be fine...

    Um, no it wouldn't

Nothing wrong with the original, and a watered-down remake (and you can bet your last cent that they'd seriously water down an American version) is totally unnecessary.

So not only do we remake old movies, we remake newer films as well. And it's a wonder I haven't been to the theater in ages....

I just read an interview with the director of the US remake and he said the Oh Dae-Su character would eat tacos instead of an octopus. That's about all I need to know to be sure this remake will suck. Can US studios please stop thinking that you can remake a recent film just because it's foreign?

Actually, the "tacos" refers to the distinctive restaurant than helps the main character figure out where he was held hostage. For the American version, he's supposed to recognize the specific Mexican food as what he ate every day.

Then again, the Japanese word for octopus is "tako", so maybe there's an inside joke here (even though Justin Lin is not Japanese...)

If he's eating tacos everyday for 15 years, he sure is gonna be gassy!!!

AND FUCK YOU HOLLYWOOD! IF YOU REMAKE THIS MOVIE I WILL COME DOWN THERE AND BURN HOLLYWOOD DOWN! :fire: :fire: This is my all time favorite movie, and now they have to ruin it! :fuck:

On a side note, this movie has already been remade... In Bollywood of all places. It's called Zinda. The trailer is in the link. http://www.kaijushakedown.com/2005/11/trailer_for_bol.html

If they keep some of the more unpleasant plot points, it still might be pretty gutsy for a US film. I'm keeping an open mind, but then again, I'm not a big Asian horror fan in the first place.

They're not ruining anything, they're just admitting shamefully that Japan owns them in movie making.
