I've been following this one for awhile. I check the film's IMDB boards from time to time for updates, and it's showing at Fantastic Fest here in Texas come the 25th. With such short notice, I doubt I'll be able to go, so hopefully they get on the ball and give this sucker a release soon.

^ You and me both! Anyway, no problem. I think this could be just the film to scare me again.

Afraid not. First the studio that purchased the rights (Dreamworks) had the brilliant idea to shelf it and do a remake. I mean, they didn't even have the lame excuse of it being a Foreign film this time around. Anyway, positive response from festival screenings thankfully got them to scrap the remake idea. Now it's just a matter of when are they going to give it a release beyond festivals.

Latest news is that they're going to announce the release date to those following them on their new Twitter page. WTF? The way the studio is handling this is really getting on my nerves, but at least this means it should be finally coming in the near future. And yes, I'm following them now. We'll see if anything pans out.

    Current release plans:

Only midnight sneaks? How lame is that? It's not opening near me anyway, but I did do the "Demand it" thing for the Dallas metro area, and I would hope that wouldn't be just a midnight sneak too. Again, the way they're handling this is really annoying. Maybe there will be enough demand to get them to release it wider.

Much as I want to see this, I'm not willing to drive all the way to Tucson. Hoping for a wider release. Seeing it in the theater sounds like a wild experience.

It lives up to the hype. I've never been in an audience that was so freaked/excited during a movie. I'm still freaked out by it the next morning. If you're sick of handicam movies, don't let that deter you. This one is the best! Check it out as soon as you can.

I've seen that one almost 2 years ago. The director sent me a copy for my website before the movie got bought by dreamworks.

It is amazing and very frightening for those who believe in ghost. I'm still amazed at the effects in the movie. They are so simple but they give goosebumps! I've been told they have change the ending. I'm curious to see what it is now.

The ending is one of the strongest parts of the movie. I'm very curious about what the original was.

I was annoyed that the studio felt the need to mess with the ending to begin with, but figured I'd wait and see it for myself before getting too upset about it. From what I've read, it seems like the original ending is the one that gets more support from those who have seen both. Anyway, there was also a third ending. They're described here:
